Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki urged Republicans on Sunday during her party’s national convention, which began on Monday, to moderate their rhetoric following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

During a Look On NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Psaki argued that it was Republicans’ responsibility to “restore decency” to political discourse. “The convention has begun, and if the agenda doesn’t change, the rhetoric and the way the agenda is constructed is not really going to calm the tone or restore decency,” she said, claiming that if the agenda “stays the same, it will escalate.”

Moderator Kristin Welker discussed President Joe Biden pulling his political ads after Trump’s assassination attempt and asked Psaki how she thought the president “views his role right now.”

Psaki responded that Biden responded “as a human being” and said that “is how everyone should respond.”

“Anyone out there who has a platform and thinks now is the moment to be political and attack the other party is contributing to the danger,” Psaki continued. “They are making it more likely that there will be retaliation. I am incredibly afraid. I am afraid for journalists. I am afraid for people who have public platforms of all parties, and that is how people should feel.”

President Biden was recently questioned about inflammatory remarks he reportedly made in a phone call with wealthy donors who are hesitant to continue financially supporting his campaign.

“I am absolutely sure that I am the best person to [beat Donald Trump]”So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to target Trump,” the president is reported to have said.

When asked by NBC News anchor Lester Holt about comments he made just days before Trump’s assassination attempt, he struggled to offer a reasonable excuse, claiming he did not apply the word “crosshairs,” as various media outlets had falsely reported.

“How do you talk about the threat to democracy that is real when the president says things the way he says them? Do you just say nothing because it might incite someone?” Biden asked.

The president insisted that he was “not guilty of this rhetoric” and that it was Trump who used heated language during the campaign.

You can always tell whether someone believes in their own arguments by how they apply them on people they like. There are currently many leftists who are celebrating the shooting, some even complaining that the shooter only grazed Trump’s ear.

Since Trump has been on the scene, the alleged journalists that Psaki is supposedly “afraid” of have used inflammatory rhetoric against the former president. You can’t keep pretending a leader is Hitler and then act surprised when someone shoots him. Unfortunately, it seems that even the attempted assassination of a former president isn’t enough to make these people do some self-reflection.
