Since Donald Trump’s landslide victory on election night, Americans have actually felt like it was “Morning in America” again. You can literally feel the optimism and hope for America’s future as you go about your daily life. The anticipation of the return of things like a blossoming economy, a sealed and secured southern border, and America’s respect abroad simply makes people feel good again. Many people will say that it feels a lot like 2016 all over again, but buckle up because there might be another reason that ancient 2016 feeling still lingers.
Roy predicted that a peaceful resistance to Trump would form within his party unless significant pressure was applied to implement Trump’s agenda. This is where WE come into play. We’re watching!!

During an appearance on Todd Starnes’ radio program this week, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) warned of this In public they may all nod While their minds are aligned with Trump, there may be another group that isn’t on board behind the scenes. He told Starnes that those who are fully behind Trump may need to bring some political muscle to counter a resistance group that is forming. He explained:
“I think Republicans in Congress are just going to pay lip service to supporting the president’s agenda and behind the scenes they’re going to block it unless some of us can kick their butt right and get them to do it. to deliver something. That is my clear assessment. The truth is, you’re already hearing excuses. Well, we don’t have 60 votes in the Senate. You’re already hearing some of my colleagues saying, ‘Well, we can’t do large-scale mass deportations,’ which, by the way, I would basically just call it what it is: repatriation.”
Republicans in the House of Representatives will have a three-seat majority after the last election in 2024https://t.co/F3HR7ukUR9

Roy added: “There is a immense group of people here who want to do this and I think some people here at this conference are in for a rude awakening.” A repeat of MPs in 2016 who may be secretly working on it Thwarting the Trump agenda is something that can hardly be afforded, especially in the House of Representatives. With the final race of the election scheduled for Wednesday in California, currently the final balance Republicans have 220 seats and Democrats have 215. However, with members of the House of Representatives joining the new Trump administration, such as Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Mike Waltz (R-FL), and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R – FL), which lowers the countdown to around 217-215. House Speaker Mike Johnson was blunt during a news conference Wednesday, saying, “Do the math, we’re left with nothing… This is a team effort and we all need to be fighting in the same direction.”
The razor-thin Republican majority will be forced to hold on until at least March. If Stefanik resigns on Jan. 3, the first day of the recent Congress, Gov. Kathy Hochul will take over must call a special election within ten days, according to New York law. The special election would not take place until 70 to 80 days after that, meaning the special election would take place in March. In Gaetz’s case, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has set a date a special election to fill this seat scheduled for April 1, 2025, with a district primary election to be held on January 28, 2025.
The good thing about it is Stefanik, Waltz, And Gaetz All come from reliably red districts. Therefore, the GOP may have an advantage in filling seats. But are there really that many Republicans who want to stand in the way of what the American people voted for and want? New Senate Majority Leader John Thune has already announced sweeping border security, defense and energy legislation, as well as an extension of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts.
House Republicans would do well to heed Chip Roy’s warning:
“They need to understand that they need to change their behavior or lose power. That’s it. I will be on the side of change. I will be on the side of disrupting the status quo.”
It may be time for Americans to put their Republican members of Congress on speed dial.
