If you’re Joe Biden and you lost CNN’s Jake Tapper, you know you’re in trouble

If you’re a Democrat and you see CNN abandoning the sinking ship, you know you’re in solemn trouble. As President Biden’s condition continues to deteriorate and his poll numbers sink while Donald Trump’s keep climbing, more and more Democrats and their corporate lackey media are sounding the alarm, fearing that the president has no chance of re-election this fall.

The latest to recognize the signs of the times is CNN’s Jake Tapper, as reliable a DNC water carrier as you could hope for. Even he sees that the ship is sinking and it may be time to get out while he still can.

As Tapper spoke with Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) on Sunday about a range of issues, he seemed to be “State of the Nation” audience that the prospects for Biden looked pretty bleak:

TAPPER: Let’s talk about the campaign, because Trump was in swing states in Michigan last night, canvassing African-American voters. Polls show Biden trailing Trump in key swing states and far behind his Senate colleagues running for re-election.

Look at this New York Times poll from last month. Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin is up nine points in Wisconsin. Biden is up just two points. Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania is up five points in PA. Biden is down three. Congressman Ruben Gallego of Arizona, who is running for Senate in Arizona, is up four points, Biden is down seven. Senator Jacky Rosen of Nevada is up two in Nevada. Biden is down 12.

How can you look at this, these statistics, these numbers, without coming to the conclusion that Joe Biden is a liability to the election? [Emphasis mine.]

Whoa – gauntlet thrown down. Normally, mainstream news anchors can be reliably expected to somehow shed a positive lightweight on the bad winds facing the Democrats – while anything about the Republicans as negative – but even Jake seems to feel the burden of Biden’s failures.

Regard:

Murphy tried “courageously” – perhaps “delusional” would be a better word – to pretend that everything was fine. Maybe if he just kept repeating, “It’s a poll, it’s a poll,” a genie would pop out of the bottle and magically transform his world.

MURPHY: Oh, that won’t be the case.

TAPPER: But look! Look at the numbers.

MURPHY: Well, this is a survey.

TAPPER: I mean, I’m sure you’re elated for your colleagues, but Biden is polling worse with everyone.

MURPHY: Well, this is a survey.

Murphy did not give up and tried to pin his hopes on the only issue where the Democrats have a chance: abortion. On virtually every other issue, voters are disgusted with the administration’s performance.

MURPHY: I can also show you 60 other polls that show Joe Biden ahead. There are many polls in swing states that show Joe Biden with a miniature lead. This is going to be a close race. There’s no doubt about that.

What we’re seeing consistently, however, is that Democrats are doing better in the polls because voter turnout is soaring, especially among newborn people who are very afraid that Republicans, led by Donald Trump, will take away their right to reproductive health care and destroy our democracy.

If Murphy is pinning his hopes on newborn people, he will not be pleased by the following news:

Leaving: Generation Z is increasingly turning away from Biden

With an almost wistful tone, Murphy predicted a Biden victory.

I think it will be a close race, but I have no doubt that Joe Biden will win and that he will give the Democrats a majority in the Senate.

Unless there is some tremendous, unforeseen change, Senator, I would not hold my breath.
