Kamala Harris has officially lost the support of Joe Manchin. The soon-to-be ex-senator from West Virginia clearly rebuked the Democratic Party candidate after she promised to abolish the filibuster in order to “codify” Roe v. Wade on Tuesday.
Harris’ campaign’s social media team published a post highlighting her recent comments, saying she had been “very clear” about destroying one of the few bulwarks against total chaos at the federal level.

It is significant to understand that when Democrats say they want to restore the “protections of Roe v. Wade,” they will not be satisfied with simply restoring living standards. This is just a diversionary tactic to try to appear less radical to the American people. Rest assured, any An abortion bill passed by the Democrat-led US Senate and signed by a hypothetical president, Kamala Harris, would “codify” abortion up until birth. How do we know? Because her last attempt at “codification” roe did just that.
Manchin’s main concern, however, is not abortion. It is the elimination of the filibuster, something he has fought to prevent for years. Up until this point, it was not clear whether Harris still held that position, as she has changed her mind on so many other issues. With her announcement, Manchin had heard enough.
New – Joe Manchin, a staunch defender of the filibuster, tells us he will NOT support Kamala Harris now, even though she has vowed to gut the filibuster to codify Roe.
“Shame on her,” Manchin, who is retiring at the end of the year, said at the Capitol. “She knows the filibuster tactic is the Holy Grail of …

Will this make a difference in the election? Probably not, except for a few moderates who are smart enough to realize what keeping the filibuster means. However, Manchin is certainly right to avoid Harris because of her campaign promise.

I understand that in the current political environment, everyone sees government as a tool of power to punish their enemies. In that sense, pure majority rule in the Senate seems to make perfect sense. After all, if you have the votes, why not nuke them and push through your agenda?
However, I disagree. I believe that the federal filibuster is the only thing keeping Democrats from completely destroying the nation. Harris’ promise to eliminate the filibuster is dangerous not for political reasons, but because of the very real consequences it would have. Every leftist pipe dream would become a reality, and then there would be nothing left.
Republicans will likely control the Senate after this election. They must do everything they can to consolidate the filibuster tactic and not operate it for short-term gains. I understand that many Republicans will scoff at this statement, but remember that Democrats will to take back the Senate, and probably sooner rather than later. Republicans have nothing planned that would be worth leaving the left to mess up the most significant legislative body. That would be worse than Harry Reid ending the filibuster on judicial nominees.
