CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – West Virginia Governor Jim Justice will be on the ballot for the 2024 U.S. Senate election in November.

Justice will face off with the winner of the Democratic primary. The governor defeated U.S. Congressman Alex Mooney in the Republican primary.

The governor first announced his intention to run for the U.S. Senate in April 2023. The governor was ineligible to run in this year’s gubernatorial election because he had already served two consecutive terms.

On May 8, an exclusive 13 News/Emerson College poll showed Justice had more than twice the support of his challenger, Rep. Alex Mooney, in the Republican U.S. Senate race.

The seat is currently held by US Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who announced in November 2023 that he would not run for re-election this year.
