Washington (AP)-as a condition for the preservation of the federal government money, the Trump administration assigns K-12 schools to confirm that they pursue the federal state law laws and end any discriminatory diversity, justice and inclusion.

A message sent by the educational department on Thursday gives states and schools 10 days to sign and return certification. It is the latest escalation against the policy policy that apparently gives the Republican administration a novel lever for the end of the federal government.

“The financial support of the federal government is a privilege, not a right,” said Craig Trainor, deputy deputy secretary for civil rights. He said many schools exchanged their legal obligations, “including the use of Dei programs to discriminate against a group of Americans to prefer another.”

Certification calls on the state and headmaster to sign a “memory of legal obligations” in which the recognition of their federal benefit depends on compliance with the federal civil law laws. It also requires compliance with several pages of legal analysis, which was written by the administration.

“The use of certain DEI practices can violate the federal law,” wrote the administration in certification and added that it was illegal for programs to utilize a race towards another.

Schools and countries that utilize illegal DEI practices can be exposed to a loss of federal money, including grants and contracts, and are liable according to the certification according to the law on incorrect information. It expressly threatens the financing of title I, which sends billions of dollars a year to American schools and aims at low incomes.

The department ordered state education offices to sign the certification and collect certifications of school systems.

This is followed by a memo of February 14, which is about that every school policy, the pupils or employees treats differently due to their breed, is illegal. The aim was to fight what the memo described as widespread discrimination in education, often against white and Asian American students.

The certification letter has critics who said that with Trump’s promise to attribute education in schools and states.

“Is this what the Trump administration calls local control? You can’t say that you give the states back to control and then dictate how they lead their schools,” said Keri Rodrigues, President of the National Parents Union.

The novel memo seems to lay the foundation for financial sanctions of the species that the Trump government used against universities. Columbia University recently approved several claims after the federal government shortened 400 million US dollars under an investigation of campus anti -Anti -Semitism.

The government applied similar tactics at Princeton University and University of Pennsylvania.

The schools in the United States have tried to find out which practices of the anti-dei commands could end up with the orders, but the novel letter means little to add clarity.

The first memo in February explained that the Federal Act prohibits schools and universities to prohibit decisions in connection with approvals, cessation of financial aids, living space, student life and more. As a reason, it referred to a decision by the Supreme Court of 2023, which exploits affirmative measures in College approval – a case that focused on admission practices in Harvard and the University of North Carolina.

The department later made it clear that some practices are allowed, including celebrations and programs for black history that concentrate on certain cultures, but many schools have “advanced discriminatory guidelines and practices as part of the Banner of ‘Dei’ Initiatives”.

The American Federation of Teachers, a national teacher union, is suing the memo on February 14 and says that they violate the first and fifth changes.

The President of the union illegally referred to the certification request and said that the Federal Law prohibits the White House, Schools and Universities to say what to teach and that federal money cannot be retained without proper procedure.

“He leads a stain of billions in federal aid for millions of children, all breeds and ethnic groups to force educators to force Kowtow to his politics and ideology,” said Randi Weingarten, President of the AFFT.
