After experiencing her first hard interview of the cycle at the hands of Bret Baier, Vice President Kamala Harris needed a fresh start. That meant going to NBC News to play softball with Hallie Jackson. But even though the questions were left-leaning and intended to prop up Harris, she still managed to break through.
Let’s start with Jackson’s performance, because at times her performance was downright embarrassing. Every time I ask myself whether mainstream journalists are capable of shame, I see something like this.
That’s embarrassing. NBC’s @HallieJackson plays puns on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with Kamala Harris, arguing that she never really wanted to abolish it, but simply wanted to start “from the ground up.” pic.twitter.com/uOrfQlY2h7

JACKSON: Of course, in 2019 you didn’t call for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to abolish ICE, as some Democrats did then, but you also said…
HARRIS: I have never called for the abolition of ICE
JACKSON: Right, you stopped before that. That’s right, that’s right. They said we should re-examine it critically and think about starting from scratch. If you were president, would you consider starting ICE from scratch?
I don’t know if Jackson is unfamiliar with the phrase “start over,” but that’s what it would mean abolish ICE first. You can’t start from scratch without tearing down everything that existed before. In other words, Harris called for abolishing ICE during the 2019 presidential election, and Jackson’s attempt to spin that fact into something else is deeply dishonest.
Harris continues to repeat her tired lecture about the defunct border law, which would have done nothing to secure the border while capitulating in other ways that would only have made the crisis worse. About a week after the Biden administration took power, the blame on Congress stopped. No one forced the president and vice president to reverse a series of policies introduced by Donald Trump aimed at curbing the flow of illegal immigration. They made that decision and then decided to release millions of people into the interior. Harris is responsible for the results, and no one outside the far left is buying the blame.
To his comic relief, the vice president told Jackson that Liz Cheney was an “opinion leader” in the Republican Party. Yes, she actually said that.
Kamala: “I was just with one of the opinion leaders of the Republican Party, Liz Cheney.”

I wrote a more extensive breakdown detailing why Harris outwitting Cheney on Monday is colossally stupid and self-destructive, and the point still stands. I have no idea who they’re trying to address here. Anyone interested in what Cheney has to say decided to vote for Harris a long time ago. Meanwhile, portraying a woman who never experienced a Middle East war she didn’t love further alienates Arab Americans, a key argument for the vice president in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. It’s such a moronic move by the Harris campaign.
However, the worst moment of the interview occurred when the topic of abortion came up. When asked if she would support religious exemptions for health care providers, Harris said unequivocally no.
Wow.

JACKSON: What concessions would be on the table? For example, would you consider religious exemptions?
HARRIS: I don’t think we should make concessions when we talk about the fundamental freedom to make decisions about one’s body.
JACKSON: To Republicans like Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, for example, who would support something like this on a Democratic agenda if Republicans actually controlled Congress, would you offer them an olive branch, or is that off the table? Is that not an option for you?
HARRIS: I’m not going to get into hypotheses.
And there you have it. Kamala Harris would force Christian hospitals to provide abortions. There is no other way to read their response, which expressly stated that concessions would be made in this matter. That’s a pretty clear line between the GOP and the Democratic Party in this election.
Harris saying she won’t engage in hypotheticals is a delicate excuse. Running for president is all about hypothesizing and telling the American people what you would do if you got the office. Harris’s inability to articulate any of her actual plans is one of the reasons she has no merit in running as a candidate, let alone winning the election.
After all, it wouldn’t be an interview with Kamala Harris without her talking in circles and refusing to answer a basic question.
WATCH: Kamala Harris again refuses to answer whether she ever witnessed President Biden’s cognitive decline:
Jackson: “I know Joe Biden isn’t on the ballot, and I understand that. But the reason you’re at the top of the list is because he’s out of this race.… pic.twitter.com/rgYvnkCzZf

With two weeks left until Election Day, she’s not getting any better at this. Her campaign is pure nonsense and she is the stupidest, laziest presidential candidate in history. I sincerely hope that Americans vote accordingly.
