Vice President Kamala Harris held a Univision town hall meeting on Thursday that covered a variety of topics.
It was a complete mess. I don’t think it went better than any of her other interviews in this flurry of media activity that she’s done. Once again, she gave no informed answers about the economy or her plans and lied outright about her opponent, former President Donald Trump. So when it comes to using these media events to clarify her positions, she doesn’t really achieve that goal. And many thought she might have had a little support, as I’ll explain shortly.
Since it was Kamala Harris, the immediate question was whether she would pull off one of her ever-changing accents to please each audience.
Many thought she was trying out a Spanish accent here.
She also treated the audience to a leadership-themed word salad about the hurricanes.
She said: “The crisis we have just experienced and the ongoing impacts of these hurricanes are a catastrophe.” Example of how critical it is in times of crisis to have leadership that understands its role and responsibility.”
People didn’t seem convinced.
She claimed there was “no time to do politics.”
But she’s the one making politics, attacking people for questioning the government’s response, calling it “misinformation” and trying to pick a fight with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. As DeSantis explained, this was the first time he had heard of her in connection with a storm in his state. Are they really going to attack the people who say they haven’t gotten the support they need and call it misinformation? Really not a good look.
Harris claimed that the first bill they introduced to Congress was a bill to “fix” the immigration system.
No, the first thing they did was breach the border security put in place by former President Donald Trump. That’s why illegal entries skyrocketed afterwards. And an amnesty law does not support secure the border. She had the power to fix the problem, she’s in office now, but she just didn’t have the will.
She claimed they needed to “put resources into fentanyl.”
But because she and Biden breached the border, so much fentanyl came in. They have endangered Americans and enriched the cartels with their failures.
She claimed she would measure her “record” against anyone: “I will measure my record against anyone when it comes to the work that I have always done and always will do to ensure that we have a secure border.”
Her “record” is in allowing illegal immigrants into the country, insisting for three years that the border was “secure” while the crisis continued. How can she say that when she has no credibility at all on this matter?
Their answers about food prices and inflation were pathetic. One woman said she had to pay $100 more for groceries every week. Plus, you pay more for everything else, including clothes. She asked what Kamala would do to support the middle class. That almost sounded like it was tailored to Harris’ trite response that she was “born middle class.” Of course, that’s exactly where she went.
This time she even claimed that she was “working class” and would “never forget where she came from.” No, you didn’t, that’s a lie. Your mother was a scientist and your father was a college professor. This is not “working class.” So to say that is just a disgrace – and is that a Tiffany necklace she’s wearing and touching while she says that? What a disaster.
But more importantly, this is not an answer. And since Harris is the one who drove up prices, she is responsible for anything that costs more. How will she fix what she broke? She didn’t say it.
Harris claimed “inflation has come down” as things got hotter than expected. And that’s still more than when former President Donald Trump was in office.
Kamala and Joe Biden caused an enhance of over 9 percent.
Then someone actually asked her about the “coup” and the ouster of Joe Biden. The man also said he leans toward Trump. He wanted her to clarify the process of how she was named a candidate.
She claimed that Joe Biden made a decision that she said, “as history would show,” was “courageous.” “He chose to put the country above his personal interests,” she said. She mentioned that she was with him as a “partner” during this term. She said she was “honored to receive the Democratic nomination,” but that’s the problem; She did not have a single primary vote from the American people to be nominated as a presidential candidate. So no, she didn’t “deserve” it. The entertaining thing was that she then claimed to have the support of Republicans Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney, as if that would influence anyone. This was not about circumventing the will of the American people and the primaries.
What she didn’t do was acknowledge that Biden was pushed aside despite the popular vote because Democrats thought he would lose, and that she and they had been dishonest about Biden’s cognitive decline.
Harris lied about Trump again by talking about Project 2025 and claiming that Trump said he would “terminate the Constitution.” This is of course a lie; Trump has nothing to do with Project 2025. It’s even more insulting when she talks about weaponizing the justice system when Trump is the one who has been targeted.
She basically admitted that it was “unprecedented” that Biden was pushed aside in an attempt to beat Trump. Yes, sorry folks, we’re throwing democracy under the bus to “save democracy.” I won’t buy this.
But some people noticed something else about City Hall that was pretty hilarious.
Was that a teleprompter? Of course it went viral.
You can see it displaying words, but as the camera continues to pan and display it, it appears to disappear.
The host, Enrique Acevedo, claims that “the prompter displayed my introduction (in Spanish) and then switched to a timer. Any claim to the contrary is simply false.”
