On Friday, President Joe Biden was the keynote speaker at the first-ever White House brunch event honoring Black excellence. As my colleague Sister Toldjah wrote, Biden was up to his elderly tricks, likely thwarting the carefully crafted remarks of his minders. Remember when they made a huge deal about former President Donald Trump talking about “Black jobs”?

But there was another moment when Biden spoke spontaneously, possibly based on freshly written notes he took before the remarks ran over the teleprompter. At 24:43 in the video Below, Biden delivers the expected, warmed-over left-wing racism attack against Trump, over the former president’s comment during the ABC News presidential debate about the current chaos in Springfield, Ohio, and rumors that people’s pets were being stolen (and possibly eaten). The rant is back: [Editor’s note: There’s a temporary tech issue that isn’t allowing the two videos in the piece to play; they are linked in the story, and can be watched on the official WH YouTube page.]

He said:

I want to take a moment to say something. Like so many Americans – like (Press Secretary) Karine (Jean-Pierre), like you [a previous speaker] point out, a proud Haitian-American, a community that is under attack in our country right now. This is just wrong. And there is no place for this in America. This has got to stop – what he is doing – has got to stop.

CNN by mistake spilled some tea on the original planning of this White House event: Kamala Harris was supposed to speak, not Joe. They don’t really give a good explanation for that; maybe she taped that solo softball interview with the Philadelphia news anchor.

Anyway, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took over from Biden during the afternoon press conference and tried to mislead everyone about who is to blame for Springfield being overrun by Haitian immigrants. I’ll tell you about that in a minute.

Here she was Secure Biden’s message:

“It’s extremely sad and concerning that a community is facing this kind of danger and vitriol, and as the president said emphatically today, I think that has to stop. And there’s absolutely no place – absolutely no place in this country, you know, certainly not in our political discourse for this kind of vitriolic, slanderous, hateful language,” she said, stressing the danger of “hateful conspiracy theories.”

KJP also mentioned in response to a reporter’s question during the press conference that she took the comments personally:

Jean-Pierre, who is Haitian-American herself, said she takes it personally when “any community, any vulnerable community is attacked, not just a community I belong to.”

That’s when the vile gaslighting began, claiming that if Republicans had passed the Democrats’ terrible immigration bill, Springfield and cities across the U.S. wouldn’t be in this mess. In customary media circles, of course, it’s all Donald Trump’s fault, and she’s making sure it stays that way. So far, she said, the government has “distributed more than $1.3 billion in grants to jurisdictions.[s] across the country to support with the influx and problems:

“We have delivered resources to Ohio, as well as to cities, states and nonprofits across the country. Since the spring, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) has been in direct contact with the city of Springfield and local agencies to make sure they have the support they need. And we want to do more. We would like to do more. That’s why we made the bipartisan proposal with the Senate early – late last year – obviously early this year. And it was stopped,

She continued:

But to help more, Jean-Pierre said, “we need more money, we need more.” She repeatedly blamed Republicans in Congress, who she said [sic] The blame lies in blocking bipartisan border legislation that would have provided funds for places like Springfield.

Jean Pierre said:

The proposal was stopped because the former president thought that this bill, this specific proposal, would hurt him and support Joe Biden. And so the Republicans in Congress stopped the proposal. It would have given cities like Springfield, Ohio, more funding.

The gaslighting of the problems in Springfield, Ohio, Denver, Colorado, and elsewhere in the country—whether it’s Republicans’ fault for not bowing to progressives on this bill or trying to pretend it’s racism—isn’t getting anywhere. The blatant lie that this was done on Donald Trump’s orders is tired and trite after all these months. No, the blame lies with Biden and Harris and their inability to handle illegal immigration at the southern border with Mexico. At this point, it’s clear that no one except true believers believes the Biden-Harris excuses for the border crisis.
