These days it’s a shame for conservatives to be wealthy. Not only have Republicans taken control of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, but President-elect Donald Trump is now less than a week away from taking the oath of office for a second time.
And with Trump comes a slate of candidates who, while not always a conservative’s first choice for their elected office, are sure to regularly astound the Democratic Party. It’s just a punishment for the left and will certainly be fun to watch.
But wait, there’s more.
MSNBC announced Monday that the overpaid “star presenter” Rachel Maddow now actually has to earn her gigantic salary by hosting her show five days a week. Maddow, who allegedly earns $25 million a year to host her Monday-only show and is temporarily increasing her production to cover the first 100 days of Trump’s second term.
This means Alex Wagner, who currently hosts the other four days at 9 p.m. ET, will be demoted to host of a traveling roadshow called “Trumpland: The First 100 Days.”
“This is a momentous next chapter in American politics,” MSNBC President Rashida Jones said in a statement. “The moment we find ourselves in requires us to report on the beginnings of the new administration from across the country – from the nation’s capital, where policies are being implemented, to conversations with people in key communities and constituencies, who are affected by this policy. No one is better equipped to bring these real-world stories to MSNBC viewers than our intrepid Alex Wagner.”
This is actually a intelligent move by MSNBC, whose ratings rise and fall with the fortunes of Donald Trump. MSNBC needs to know that it performs at its best when conservatives, Republicans and regular venerable Americans tune in and watch its hosts crumble in real time in response to every move Trump makes.

Since Trump won in November, all hell has broken loose on cable, with salaries slashed, ratings plummeting, and Trump haters like Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski making a humiliating pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to curry favor with the cable networks to ask elected president. RedState’s Becky Noble had the overview:
The decline in viewership is just part of the internal conflict at MSNBC. Because of the ratings, Comcast recently announced that she would spin off several NBCUniversal cable channels, including MSNBC, and not be affiliated with NBC News. Additionally, “Morning Joe” is a co-host Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski drew the ire of many true MSNBC viewers when they revealed that they had met with Donald Trump while repeatedly emphasizing to those viewers that he was a “fascist” and a “threat to democracy.” It was also revealed that MSNBC host Al Sharpton’s nonprofit took money from Kamala Harris’ campaign before he interviewed her.
Things are actually in shambles. The only way to revive the failing cable network is to give conservatives a reason to tune in, and that reason comes in the form of Rachel Maddow, who is consistently and proudly wrong about everything. That, along with her temper tantrums, makes the viewing top notch.
Unfortunately, the fun will only last until May 1st, when Maddow will be completely overpaid again because he doesn’t do enough as a weekly host, and needy Alex Wagner will be allowed back into the studio. So let’s make the most of it while it lasts.
Let the hilarity begin!
