It looks like the NeverTrump crooks will have to find a recent career.
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki was a guest on MSNBC this morning, where autopsies will be conducted Tuesday on Kamala’s epic failure so quickly it could be mistaken for an episode of “Dexter.” Psaki made many substantive points, the most central of which was the extent to which Democrats misunderstood the electorate and replaced what amounts to an X, formerly Twitter, with trolling for politics.
Jen Psaki: The Harris team welcomed Republicans who left Trump rather than people leaving the Democratic Party

JEN PSAKI: I’ve also been thinking about all the things the party has done wrong. It’s an significant moment to reflect and be humble, but also be curious about why.
We have completely misunderstood abortion policy in this country. I don’t mean that it’s not an issue that people care deeply about – they clearly do. These seven referendums are an example of this. But millions of people in this country voted for Donald Trump, a person who put the people on the Supreme Court who overturned abortion rights and who also voted to protect abortion rights. That was a substantial misinterpretation.
The other thing that I think Democrats and people who voted for Harris and are afraid of Trump should be sober and curious about is why people moved to Trump and why Democrats didn’t vote for Kamala Harris and the Democrats have decided. There was a lot of headwind here. There is sexism, there is racism. All of this is true.
But I hope it really raises the question of who people are listening to. In my opinion, the people who left Trump were listened to too much and were given too much credit, not the people who left the Democratic Party. The people who left the Democratic Party will win in the future. The Never Trumpers have significant votes, but this is not the winning coalition.
The last thing I’m going to say, because I’ve been thinking about this a lot, part of this article – whoever you’re listening to – is also this argument, and you just brought this up, Mika, about fascism. Fascism and the threat to democracy are a substantial issue in this country. Journalists should talk about it. It is not a good final message to reach the masses of the country. People don’t relate to it. It’s not something they understand.
Okay, I said that would be the last thing, but the last thing is this: There are moments – I know Joe talked about this earlier. I worked for John Kerry when he lost to President Bush. This was a real “How did this happen?” moment. I worked when the Democrats took back the House of Representatives. That was two years later. Then I worked for Barack Obama, who no one knew would be the next candidate or president. No matter how lost people feel, a vacuum is an opportunity for rethinking, curiosity and humility. I think people are hopeful. Ten people will show up. We will also see this in the coming months.
Finally, the cartoon lightbulb lit up: “The people who left the Democratic Party will win in the future. The Never Trumpers have important votes, but this is not the winning coalition.”
The exit polls showed that the Democrats are very popular with Hispanics, black men, juvenile voters and even, as strenuous as it is to believe, the “soccer mom” demographic. NeverTrump, like Republicans for Harris or White Dudes for Harris, was always just a GOP online troll. They had no ideas, their only organizing principle, aside from a professed monomaniacal contempt for Trump and his supporters, was siphoning money from wealthy progressive donors…along with occasional bouts of pedophilia and adultery. Of course, they never had a place outside of a petite carnival side event.
Psaki is right in pushing the clown car to the front while ignoring the grievances that caused a Democrat +60 district with a 97% Hispanic population to become an R+16 district; see Trump’s victory could herald a fundamental reorganization of American politics.
