Nothing puts a smile on my face more than the left dragging its own people through the mud, especially when it’s someone who absolutely deserves it. Someone like Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan.
The FTC specifically targets companies and deals that threaten to create a monopoly (or what the FTC sees as close enough to one). In reality, they exist to stifle the growth of gigantic companies. The FTC under Khan has turned that mission into a battle mantra, fighting (and losing) several court battles over potential mergers.
Khan has made some real splashes during her time at the FTC. A strong-government, anti-capitalist progressivist, she waged war on Amazon, Microsoft, non-compete agreements, and McDonald’s ice cream machines.

But while Republicans are eager to get rid of Khan because of her overzealous and anti-business activities at the FTC, fresh voice of opposition against Khan has emerged – Democratic major donor and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman.
Hoffman, the donated $7 million the leading pro-Biden and Harris super PAC, told CNN he was “doubling down” on efforts to support the campaign and had “high hopes” that Harris would become the first female president of the United States.
However, the billionaire argued that if Harris wins the election in November, he should appoint a fresh antitrust police officer to replace Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chair Lina Khan.
“Lina Khan is … a person who is not helping America,” Hoffman told CNN in his first on-camera interview since President Joe Biden was named as the suspected Democratic candidate. “I would hope that Vice President Harris would replace her.”
Hoffman, who sits on the board of Microsoft, a company that has run afoul of the FTC, said Khan was She operated “outside the scope” of her duties at the FTC.
“Antitrust is fine…waging wars is not,” Hoffman said.
I am reminded once again of one of the best articles ever written on the parody website ClickHole:
Heartbreaking: The worst person you know just made a great point
The tragedy occurred moments ago during a political debate among your peers. Out of nowhere, the most despicable person you have ever met in your life entered the discussion with a completely valid and irrefutable argument. Every attempt to provide a rebuttal to the world’s most insufferable asshole failed miserably because, for the first time ever, this bastard’s logic was completely unassailable.
When such terrible events happen, you always assume that they only happen to other people and never to you.
The good news is that this kind of rhetoric from Hoffman is leading to a war of words between him and socialist Bernie Sanders, who sharply denounced Hoffman’s “arrogance” and said, “Billionaires should not be telling candidates who to keep and who not to keep.”
Sanders made the comments in a telephone interview with CNN.
“This concerns me because Lina Khan is doing a great job and I hope and expect that the vice president will keep her in office if she wins,” he told the news channel.
For my part, I hope to see more of it.
