As RedState previously reported, the Merrick-Garland contempt resolution came to featherlight during a cluttered House Oversight Committee hearing on Thursday that included Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and Jasmine, to heated debate Crockett (D-TX) throws down after Greene comments on Crockett’s eyelashes.
“I think your false eyelashes are confusing what you’re reading,” Greene told Crockett, sparking an uproar on the Democratic side and leading to a heated exchange between the three that delayed the hearing for a considerable amount of time. with Crockett once describing Greene as having a “bleached, blonde, poorly built, fleshy body.”

As it turns out, the excitement among committee members during the hearing may not have been the worst thing.
According to some Democrats on the committee, there were allegedly other members of Congress at the hearing who were drinking:
Rep. Jamie Raskin (Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, says it is “worth investigating” whether lawmakers were drinking during Thursday’s explosive hearing after rumors circulated that non-committee members were drunk.
“I didn’t see the lady from New Mexico drinking, Melanie Stansbury When she brought it up, she said members were drinking in the room, and that’s something worth investigating if there was actually drinking,” Raksin said on Fox News.
According to Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), “there were some members in the room drinking in the hearing room.” Stansbury said the lawmakers who were drinking were not on the committee. Axios reported.

According to another report, there was confirmation from both sides of the aisle that some who were present at the hearing (not committee members), soak:
On Friday morning, members weren’t over the embarrassing scene. They complained about the way the hearing had gone the night before, and both Republicans and Democrats acknowledged that some members had drunk alcohol that evening.

Even lawmakers not on the committee got in on the action, drawing deafening protests from the audience. This was rejected by a member of the panel who claimed: “We have some members in the room drinking in the hearing room and not attending this hearing.”
Look, I understand that this is what makes for good television, and honestly, I might have been tempted to have a few sips too if I had to witness it in person.
I’m far from the tone police and am all for vigorous debate and standing up for your beliefs, but we elect these people to handle the business of the people of Washington, DC, not to behave like mean girls in a sandbox or To behave in college, students go to clubs. These people just have to do better. You just have to do it.
