You know you’ve spent too much time in Hollywood and not enough time in the real world if you think working with the deeply concerned people behind the Lincoln Project is a good career move. This is the sorrowful fate that appears to have befallen actor Ed O’Neill, creator of the popular Al Bundy character on “Married With Children,” who humiliated himself by doing a pro-Kamala ad for the dubious group voiced characters.
Let’s back up for a moment and remember what the Lincoln Project is all about. Rising from the ashes of the original Never Trump movement of 2016, they are a collection of spineless, failed “Republican” consultants with sordid pasts who live for the Grimm. They sold their souls and pretended to hate Donald Trump to get some of the Democrats’ sweet money. And, oh, how Democrats love to exploit them for the useful fools that they are.
In other words, you were Liz Cheney before Liz Cheney was Liz Cheney.
The group announced On Friday, O’Neill willingly joined the fray by doing the voice-over for a fresh ad to be released as part of the Democratic Party’s hilarious attempt to lure/harass men into voting for Kamala. Or, as the Lincoln Project puts it: “[implore] Men to rise above racism and xenophobia and vote for the only qualified candidate in this race, Vice President Harris.” LOL.
They call the ad “A Place Like Springfield” and apparently believe it will attract male voters to Kamala. And if they really believe that, then this ad isn’t it.
If you can’t bear to watch, and who can blame you, here’s the whole, scary thing:
There’s something about diminutive towns that brings out the best in a man.
Maybe it’s the warmth and kindness that comes from Main Street and neighborhood schools, from multiple generations of families working demanding to make ends meet.
They are churches that open the doors to all who seek grace and protection from the storm.
A place like Springfield, Ohio. Springfield desperately needed workers to fill the jobs its city residents couldn’t or wouldn’t take. So these Haitian immigrants set off around the world, hoping that they too would have a chance at the same dream our ancestors had when they came to America, and then a vicious, xenophobic lie turned Springfield on its head Head.
“In Springfield they eat the dogs, they eat the cats.”
Who the hell are these people?
Look, this election isn’t just about Springfield, it’s about your city, your community and your values.
There is only one person out there who represents decency and opportunity and shares our values.
It’s time to let her take the lead.
It’s time to stand up for the principles and freedoms that built this country because I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.
I still think this country is great.
It’s time to be a man and vote for a woman.
Do you understand that, gentlemen? You’re not a man if you don’t vote for Kamala. And that comes straight from Hollywood!
The best thing that can be said about this ad – aside from “What the hell was Ed thinking?” – is that if you’re looking for a Friday night drinking game that’ll have you taking a shot every time You hear a tried and true tone, real democratic fallacy, let’s go.
- Kamala has nothing to do with families having to work demanding “to make ends meet” – DRINK!
- Americans won’t take jobs like this, so we need illegal immigration – DRINK!
- Xenophobia – DRINK!
- Blatant gaslighting – DRINK!
The only explanation for trite, embarrassing efforts like this is that panic actually set in on the rapidly sinking USS Kamala. For some reason they believe that real men would be ashamed to vote for them, when in fact the exact opposite is true. Real men want to protect their families from Kamala Harris and her destructive policies. For heaven’s sake, she picked Tim Walz, the least manly man out there, as her running mate!
This ad is really just one degree removed from the rants of that crazy college professor who called for men who don’t vote for Kamala to be lined up and shot, and it’s demanding to imagine anything that male voters more repellent.
It’s not surprising to see the Lincoln Project cabal reduced to this kind of nonsense, but it’s sorrowful to see Ed O’Neill stoop to their level. He’s too aged not to know better, and it’s unlikely that fans of his Al Bundy character will see anything in this ad other than another Hollywood bubble dweller selling himself out for a very misguided cause.
