Albany, NY (NEXSTAR) – Some New York legislators are pushing for a modern legislative template that aims to prevent federal agents – including those from immigration and customs authorities – to wear masks and to hide their identity in service.

The meeting member Tony Simone provided the mandating end of Lawless Tactics Act next to New York City Compotroller Brad Lander On Wednesday, citing concerns regarding the accountability and fear in the communities.

The proposed melting law would demand that law enforcement officers be clearly identifiable. The invoice would make officers and agents on all levels to uncover their faces and show a name, a drawing number or another evident marker for their uniforms while they work within state borders. An officer who violates the law could be charged because of an offense.

The draft law creates exceptions to medical masks that block air diseases or biological or chemical energetic ingredients, masks for fire and smoke protection, masks for water rescues and masks for frigid in a declared competition. SWAT team officers can also utilize defensive equipment that cover their faces.

The proponents articulate a need for transparency and said that the proposal would rebuild the trust between municipalities and law enforcement authorities. The pressure follows the passage of Obbba, the draft law for the reconciliation of the federal government, the budget for reconciliation Assign 45 billion US dollars for prisoners from immigration and about 30 billion US dollars more to hire modern ice staff and to wait for facilities. Supporters of the melting law have characterized this OBBBA calculation as a ammunition for a police state.

But the melting law attracted quick complaint for what some say to endanger law enforcement. The National Republican Congress Committee, a national group that voted to choose Republicans in the US representative house, criticized the proposed ban. Maureen O’Toole, regional press spokeswoman for the Eastern of the NRCC, described a “dangerous attack” on ice agents.

She questioned the claim that ICE agents have masks “to affect fear in asylum seekers and immigrants”. And she condemned democratic congress members who voted against billions of OBBBA financing agents for border enforcement and ice agents “who jeopardized their lives every day to protect the security of the New Yorkers”. According to O’Toole, the Democrats risk the lives of American citizens by not supporting the federal immigration authority.

Lander – The outgoing compatroller and former candidate of the mayor of NYC, who was arrested by masked federal officials outside the immigration court in June – spoke about the importance of the rule of law. He said that order in society depends on clear rules, evident enforcement and accountability, and argued that masked police “strike” “strike” in the hearts of asylums and immigrants. He also suggested that they mask to “pursue a cultural war” captured by Covid.

Simone, a democrat, said that masked ice agents sometimes target legal residents and citizens while they pursue families and separate children from their parents. He also explained the trust that the state of New York has the responsibility for the enforcement of the melting law, even though he recognized that the courts may have to decide. Manhattan’s representative connected the problem with the economy and harmful farms and hotels, in which immigrants play an vital role as part of the “American substance”.

According to Simone’s communication director, the invoice is not yet counted in the Capitol. So far, there is also no Senate version of the law on the draft law, although discussions with Simones Democratic colleagues in the other chamber are energetic.

Jo Anne Simon, member of the current federal laws, the lawless and Ahistorical meeting member, agreed that the agents grab legal residents. She suggested that the intensive enforcement of immigration to fascism and white dominance is due.

Simon also suggested that the legislator could return before the next legislative period in January begins a special meeting to remedy OBBBA cuts in relation to healthcare, education and housing. She pointed out that the melting law was supported in both legislative chambers.

In a written declaration, the meeting member Dana Levenberg also made an “enhance in crimes Individuals imitate ice Now that it has become commonplace for her to mask. “And the President of Manhattan District Mark Levine, the democratic candidate for the city ban, said the enforcement of the immigration made the creeping authoritarianism by undermining civil freedom, a proper procedure and the right to legal assistance.

The meeting member Grace Lee said ICE inserted a “strategy of fear and intimidation” by hiding their identities and showing weapons. Congress member Nydia Velázquez introduced a similar “No Masks for Ice Act” at the federal level. Other supporters are congress members Jerrold Nadler and the meeting members Micah Lasher and Sarahana Shrestha.

Andrew Cuomo – former governor and current candidate for the mayor of NYC – called for the exposure of ice agents and said that they should “not hide behind anonymity” and “have to be obliged to identify themselves”. At that time he called Lander’s detention a “demonstration of the obvious abuse of power”.
