Officials in the town of Hanson, Massachusetts (20 miles south of Boston) are in a frenzy because someone projected a “Trump 2024” sign onto their water tower. They claim that this is against policy and that the violator will face fines if they do not stop.
I say give the guy points for ingenuity. (Or girl, if that’s the case.)
City Rant Administrator Lisa Green, however, wasn’t ecstatic replied:
“On Friday, October 11, the City of Hanson learned that a resident projected the image of a political sign from his property onto the City of Hanson Municipal Water Tower at 228 High St. “This misleads the public into believing that this activity is being sanctioned or condoned by the city,” Green’s statement said.
I think it looks good. And you know they wouldn’t have said “boo” in Taxachusetts if the projection had supported Kamala Harris:
I love that!
In Hanson, Massachusetts, officials issued a cease-and-desist order against a resident who projected political signs on a water tower. The city expressed concerns about potential costs associated with administering the forecasts, including taxpayer spending on equipment and… pic.twitter.com/lCndZnmgfX

The city is also reportedly preparing a cease and desist letter and will fine the unnamed projectionist $100 per day. Personally, if I were the mystery person and had enough in the bank, a hundred dollars a day would be totally worth it to me. In the meantime, the city is investing money and resources to ensure its sensitive citizens don’t see the Trump sign:
“Road department employees shined a spotlight on the water tower to soften the projection. Further measures are currently being considered,” the statement said. “This individual’s actions have the potential to cost taxpayers a significant amount, including legal fees, overtime to pay Highway Department employees who turn the headlights on and off every day, and the possibility of renting or purchasing more powerful lighting equipment A fine of $100 per day is unlikely to cover these costs.”
Social media users JohnFGatelywho describes himself as “Behind Enemy Lines in Massachusetts,” was there for the story:
I’m here in Hanson where the city just turned on the generators and four giant spotlights to prevent you from seeing the Trump 2024 logo on the Hanson water tower. #mapoli #Trump #hansonwatertower pic.twitter.com/LhOeWr3xhX

The guy is actually pretty comical:
Hey, it’s Jack, and I’m here in Hanson where a city employee just showed up to turn on the headlights – oh, we’ve got lights, we’ve got lights! He just turned on the spotlight to protect you. To protect you from the terrible political image that could be shown here on the water tower.
It’s almost sunset now…thank goodness the city will protect your eyes here because this could be so incredibly offensive that you might actually see a political logo…lighting up on a water tower.
He points out that many media outlets don’t even mention the word “Trump” in their articles so as not to upset their sensitive readers, and that some media outlets even operate photos of completely different water towers. Then he picks up the kicker:
This could be so triggering that Tim Walz could actually learn to shoot his shotgun if he were actually here.

He also claims he raised over $1,000 to aid the projectionist deal with the fines, so he may be able to gain at least ten more days out of it. If that happens, city officials will be very, very melancholy.
