WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell tripped and fell after a Republican luncheon on Tuesday, spraining his wrist and suffering a tiny cut on his face, his office said in a statement.
The Kentucky Republican is doing well and after receiving medical attention “has been cleared to continue his schedule,” his office said in the three-sentence statement read to reporters.
McConnell, 82, is a polio survivor and has a history of stumbling.
The Senate’s up-to-date Republican leader, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, said McConnell was “doing well” and referred all other questions to McConnell’s office.
