Former ambassador to the United Nations, South Carolina governor and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley says she was not invited to the Republican National Convention, which begins July 15, but she is Release of its 97 delegates and urged them to vote for the likely candidate Donald Trump anyway.

She said we could not afford to continue watching our country decline under a confused leader:

“The nominating convention is a time of Republican unity,“Haley will say so in a statement.”JOE BIDEN is not suitable to serve a second term and KAMALA HARRIS would be a disaster for America. We need a president who will hold our enemies accountable, secure our borders, reduce our debt and get our economy back on track. I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee.”

On Tuesday, she also posted on social media: “When you vote for Joe Biden, you are really voting for a President Harris.”

She was not bitter about not being invited to attend the convention, her spokesman said, because Trump had the right to lead the event at his own discretion:

When asked whether Haley would attend the conference, Haley Spox CHANE DENTON said Haley “was not invited and that’s fine with her. Trump deserves the convention he wants. She’s made it clear that she will vote for him and wishes him the best.”

Why are Trump opponents surprised that Nikki Haley voted for Trump?

Although this is certainly welcome news for the former president, the delegates not obliged to vote for him:

While Haley “releases” delegates, they may not have to vote for Trump and can still choose to vote for Haley or support another Republican. In some cases, delegates are locked into one candidate until the convention, depending on state rules.

The relationship between Trump and Haley became increasingly contentious during her presidential campaign, and she was the last Trump challenger to drop out of the race. She did not immediately indicate at the time that she would vote for the former president – but now says his victory is is a necessity:

Ms Haley, who served as United Nations ambassador under Mr Trump, said she plans to vote for Mr Trump in Novemberalthough their relationship deteriorated towards the end of her campaign.

She was able to win a significant share of independents, Republicans and moderate Democrats in the primaries, even after she withdrew her candidacy. Her convention delegates include 19 people from Washington, DC, and nine from Vermont, the two towns where she won the primaries.

Trump’s chances of regaining the Oval Office have improved dramatically in recent weeks, as President Biden’s terrible debate performance proved he is not up to the job of commander in chief. Calls for him to abandon his campaign activities have come from all quarters, from liberal media to senior Democratic lawmakers. Haley’s move only gives him further momentum.
