Of course, she has constantly changed her views and tried to portray herself as more moderate, even though she knows Americans aren’t far to the left. But it would be foolish to fall for that attitude of hers.

On Wednesday, one of her earlier statements went viral in a revived clip from a press conference in May 2007. This is more than just worrying.

Has she ever read the Constitution? It literally talks about entering your homes to check your guns if you legally own them. Yes, you can’t enter someone’s home just because they have a gun. That should scare everyone, regardless of their political stripe.

She spoke about a bill she helped write that would impose penalties on gun owners who fail to properly store their firearms at home.

Harris said the modern measure was about enshrining “our values” in law and trying to “encourage certain behaviors.”

“When we legislate, we are not just trying to create an opportunity to prosecute someone for committing a crime. More importantly, when we legislate our values, we try to encourage certain behaviors,” she said at the time.

Oh, great. There they are again, your “values” trying to enforce the desired behavior.

James Singer, a spokesman for the Harris campaign, told Fox News Digital that a potential Harris administration would “uphold and defend the law and the rights of Americans, including Second Amendment.”

“The law in question, which requires reasonable gun storage in private homes, was upheld by Republican-appointed judges in the Ninth Circuit and declined Supreme Court review,” he added. “As Vice President Harris said on the debate stage, she is a gun owner who supports reasonable safety laws that Donald Trump opposes.”

The bill might have passed. That’s not to say that what she said in the press conference was correct. In fact, it was incredibly disturbing that someone running for the highest office in the land could ever say such a thing.

I wrote earlier about one of her disturbing statements on Wednesday: “Children of the community are the children of the community.” At first glance, that sounds like a repetitive word salad, but it also sounds like an admission that your children belong to the state. If she believes that, she should never have power.
