Joe Biden had a “tough” phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, in which the American president called on Israel to surrender to Hamas “within a week or two.” He also promised to withdraw his support for Israel if there was further “escalation.”
According to fresh reportBiden was “emotional” and began shouting while insisting that Netanyahu must somehow reach a ceasefire with a terrorist government that rejects any ceasefire proposal.
At the end of the meeting with Netanyahu in the Oval Office last Thursday, Biden became emotional, raised his voice and told Netanyahu he needed to reach an agreement on Gaza as soon as possible, three Israeli officials with knowledge of the meeting told Axios.
- “Biden raised his voice and said he wanted to reach an agreement within one to two weeks,” a senior Israeli official said.
- “Biden told Netanyahu that a hostage situation and a ceasefire agreement were the most important things right now,” the Israeli official added.
If you’re good at math, you’ve probably noticed that “a week to two weeks” happens to be days before the Democratic National Convention. Why is that critical? Because left-leaning Hamas supporters have been expected to protest and commit acts of violence at the event for nearly a year.
Biden is clearly hoping that a ceasefire will defuse the situation and spare his party the embarrassment. In other words, the President of the United States is demanding that an American ally surrender to terrorists for political reasons. This is a wild development that would be a real scandal if a Republican were involved.
And how is Israel supposed to reach a hostage deal when Hamas refuses to agree to one unless it wins a total victory in Gaza as a condition? This question will never be asked of Biden or any other administration official, even though it is the most obvious question surrounding this ordeal. Israel has repeated has offered unilateral deals that would have greatly benefited Hamas, and they have all been rejected. What is left for them except to keep Hamas in full power? It would be suicidal for Israel to allow that.
As for the current threat from Iran, Biden went so far as to tell Netanyahu that the United States will not assist Israel repel an attack if there is another “escalation.” It should be remembered that the previous “escalation” was the assassination of Hamas’ top political leader and a wanted Hezbollah terrorist who American placed A bounty was placed on his head. This was apparently unacceptable to the President.

- Biden then told Netanyahu that the US would assist Israel repel an Iranian attack, but that he did not expect any further escalation from Israel after that and that there would be immediate steps toward a hostage agreement, the US official said.
Biden also warned Netanyahu If there is a renewed escalation, he cannot count on a rescue operation from the USA, the US official added.
In addition, the report states that Biden and his advisers are very livid that Netanyahu kept them in the murky about the above-mentioned assassinations.
US authorities are neither mourning the death of Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fuad Shukr, who was involved in the killing of 241 US Marines in Beirut in 1983, nor Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyehwho celebrated the October 7 massacre.
- However, they believe Netanyahu has kept Biden in the murky about his plans to carry out the attacks after giving the impression last week that he was paying attention to the president’s call to focus on reaching a Gaza deal.
Of course, the Israelis kept the United States in the murky. Had they not done so, the plans would undoubtedly have been leaked to Iran by Biden administration officials. That was simply a risk Netanyahu and his country could not take, given how gigantic a target Ismail Haniyeh was.
There is no doubt that Biden and Kamala Harris see the ongoing war against Hamas as a political liability. That they would put their own thirst for power first in this scenario is insane. It is not Israel’s fault that the Democratic Party is full of anti-Semitic radicals, and the fact that there could be unrest at the DNC should play absolutely no role in a ceasefire agreement.
