The Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on Monday granting presidential immunity from prosecution has several implications, one of which is that Trump’s legal team has requested a postponement of the July 11 sentencing hearing convicting the former president on 34 counts of white collar fraud.
On Tuesday, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office wrote to Judge Juan Merchan saying it had no objection to the motion.

It is now up to Merchan to decide whether to grant the delay, but Bragg asked for two weeks to respond:
“Although we find the defendant’s arguments to be without merit, we do not object to his motion for leave to enter the plea and his purported motion to adjourn sentencing pending the disposition of his motion,” Deputy District Attorney Joshua Steinglass responded in a Letter submitted on Tuesday.
Trump’s sentencing is currently scheduled for July 11, just days before he is scheduled to officially accept the Republican presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention the following week. But the response from prosecutors makes it quite likely that the sentencing will be delayed for at least a few weeks.
The former president’s lawyers have asked for a July 10 deadline to submit their written arguments for her immunity, but if their timeline is accepted, it would likely require a delay.

If a two-week delay were allowed, the date would be July 24 – after the party convention, which is scheduled to begin on July 15 in Milwaukee.
In Bragg’s politically motivated case, Trump was found guilty on 34 counts. The case used novel legal theories to charge the former president with the shocking crime of misreporting business expenses:
Trump was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal repayments to his then-agent Michael Cohen. Cohen had paid porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election to keep peaceful about an alleged affair with Trump, an affair he denies.
Unlike in his three criminal cases that have not yet gone to trial and in which Trump argued that the actual charges should be dropped because of presidential immunity, he has not claimed immunity from the hush money charges themselves.
Bragg is a selective prosecutor who only brings charges when he feels like it:

Given the immunity ruling, the possible delay of the verdict in Manhattan and Biden’s terrible performance in the debate, it was a good end of June/beginning of July for Trump. He has been dynamic on social media lately, Criticism of Biden’s politicized Justice Department:
A really bad day for Madman Jack Smith, the crazy prosecutor appointed to handle Crooked Joe Biden’s attack on his political opponent. Today, as in the past, the Supreme Court gave the madman a good beating! His “real” bosses, Andrew Weissmann and Lisa Monaco, not to mention Merrick Garland, whose once great reputation was destroyed by these gangsters and his constant defense of Crooked Joe, must be furious with him. Garland should put an end to this never-ending HOAX and let the people focus on making America great again!
If he can delay the verdict until after the party congress, it will be a major victory for him. But the question remains: will Merchan sentence him to prison?
