Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in the US this week. On Monday, he caused a stir when he visited a weapons factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania, along with several prominent Democrats, including Senator Bob Casey, who is in a tough race with Republican Dave McCormick, and made negative comments about the former president and his former president Donald Trump made Vice President, Senator JD Vance (R-OH).

On Wednesday, Zelensky spoke at the United Nations: criticize any efforts to negotiate a peace agreement between his country and Russia, which falls compact of what he calls a “just peace.”
Also on Wednesday, Vance shared his thoughts on Zelensky’s comments.

In response to a question about Zelensky’s comments and the war, Vance replied:
“Well, you see, the details of how Donald Trump will end the war in Ukraine is to not be weak and not to be stupid, which unfortunately cannot be said about the current administration. It’s very simple. Russia didn’t do it.” In the four years that Donald Trump was president, Russia hasn’t invaded a single one of its neighbors, and… the president before him and the president after him, somehow Russia continues to invade its neighbors because they don’t respect American leadership And because our leaders aren’t smart, Donald Trump brings not just strength but intelligence to the Oval Office, and I think that’s really all you need to end this war, because see , it is not in America’s interest. It is not in Ukraine’s interest, it is not in Europe’s interest for this war to continue indefinitely.
“Well, you said that Zelensky criticized something I said. First, this is not a plan; I’m talking about a possible scenario of how this thing could ultimately end, but look, I don’t appreciate Zelensky coming into this country and telling American taxpayers what to do. He should say “thank you” to American taxpayers.”
On Thursday, Zelensky met with President Joe Biden, after which Biden announced additional aid for Ukraine.
“Today I am proud to announce a new $2.4 billion security assistance package. “I have also directed the Pentagon to provide all remaining security assistance allocated to Ukraine by the end of my term, which is January 20,” Biden said before Zelensky met separately with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee .
As mentioned above, Zelensky also met with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Now it appears that Zelensky will also meet with Trump. On Thursday afternoon, Trump posted a message to Truth Social that appeared to come from Zelensky (via deputy ambassador Denys Sienik), suggesting that the two meet while he is in the United States.
Then, during his Thursday afternoon press conference, Trump confirmed that he would indeed be meeting with Zelensky on Friday.

Trump said:
“As you know, President Zelensky has requested a meeting with me, and I will be meeting with him at Trump Tower tomorrow morning at around 9:45 a.m. And it’s a shame what’s happening in Ukraine – so many deaths, so much destruction, it’s a terrible thing.”
This should be an engaging meeting, to say the least. Will they bury the hatchet over Zelensky’s attack on Trump’s vice president? Will they come away smiling? And how will each of them organize their tête-à-tête? We’ll find out soon.
