Previously, we learned that Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, the illegal immigrant charged in February with the murder of 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student Laken Riley, was found guilty at trial on all 10 counts, including intentional murder and aggravated assault with intent to rape. Athens-Clarke County (Georgia) Superior Court Judge H. Patrick Haggard presided over the case and announced the verdict around noon. As the verdict was announced, Riley’s family could be heard sobbing in the background.

Shortly thereafter, family members and friends of Ms. Riley issued victim impact statements. Through tears, her mother, Allyson Phillips, urged the judge to put Ibarra behind bars with no chance of ever being released.

“There is no end to the pain and suffering he has caused our family and friends,” she said. “I ask you to give this monster life without the possibility of parole so that he never has the chance to hurt anyone else again.” The judge did just that, sentencing Ibarra to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Not surprisingly, following the verdict and sentencing, some in the media and on the left are trying to do their thing and revise history to try to shift the blame for Riley’s murder to President-elect Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress .

However, such a person had to receive a severe rebuke.

Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin, who has been reporting extensively on the Biden-Harris border crisis for years, used the Twitter/X machine remember Guys, how preventable Riley’s death was:

The government has failed Laken Riley at every step.

Her killer was in federal custody after crossing the border illegally and then released.

After an arrest, he was released again in the Sanctuary City of New York – ICE was not notified.

Then NYC gave him a taxpayer-funded flight to GA, according to his partner’s statement.

It is unacceptable on every single level.

RIP Sheets Riley.

In response, a Democratic apologist attempted to shift blame onto Republicans in the House and Senate:

Melugin had no idea and responded accordingly by dropping some facts:

In their opening arguments Friday, prosecutors laid out the horrific details of Laken Riley’s final moments, noting that she fought back and had Ibarra’s DNA under her fingernails. They also said that she was found partially naked and that Ibarra hit her on the head several times with a rock and strangled her. The smartwatch she wore recorded her last heartbeat at 9:28 a.m. that day.

In tiny, they said Riley was brutally killed by Ibarra because she “refused to be his rape victim.”

May God bless your family and grant you peace that passes all understanding. RIP, Sheet Riley.
