Not all heroes wear capes: Eagles fan says and does what needs to be said about fake Kamala bus stop posters

As RedState previously reported, posters depicting Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris wearing an Eagles helmet were spotted at some bus stops in Philadelphia over the weekend. Below was the message “Kamala – Official Candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles” and a link to an official Eagles page that promotes Choose.

The Eagles organization was asked on Twitter/X if the vice president was really their official candidate:

Harris has visited the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania at least three times in the past month. The first visit was in Philadelphia in early August to announce Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. The most recent visit was on Monday, where she tried to highlight her union role alongside Scranton-born President Joe Biden before an audience in Pittsburgh.

Shortly after they were tagged in social media posts, the Eagles account released a statement that noticed “We are aware that fake political ads are circulating and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed.”

The company that owns the bus stops in question, Intersection Media, also sworn to take action:

“Although our bus shelters are equipped with locks that typically prevent the installation of unauthorized text by non-Intersection staff, occasionally people find a way to open the ad panel and insert unauthorized text. The unauthorized text in this case implies an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by the Philadelphia Eagles. We note that the Eagles and Intersection had nothing to do with the creation or publication of this unauthorized text and Intersection staff will remove the ads as quickly as possible.”

A city spokesman told NBC 10 Philadelphia that the posters “are neither digital ads from the Harris campaign nor from the Eagles.”

But the promised action wasn’t brisk enough for at least one Eagles fan, who took to the streets armed with copies of the Eagles tweet and several rolls of duct tape, which he used to cover at least one of the signs. He has seen:

FOX 29’s Steve Keeley spotted the fan who said he went to Staples to make copies of the Eagles and began taping them over the unauthorized ad.

“This person is lying to everyone who uses this stop,” said Joe, the Birds fan. “That’s what concerns me greatly. The fact that they are spreading lies that the Philadelphia Eagles have endorsed Kamala Harris for President of the United States.”

In the full clip, which you can watch below, Joe says he is a “lifelong” Philadelphian and admits he is a Republican, but that he is more concerned about the disinformation being spread by his fellow fans and residents. “My concern here is not that someone is expressing an opinion, which anyone is allowed to do. But this person is lying.”

“These kinds of lies are the things that prevent honesty in the electoral process, and I think that’s what we need to promote – the integrity of the process,” he also said.
