“Saturday Night Live” doesn’t have the best reputation among Republicans and conservatives, especially anyone with a developed sense of humor. Often (but not always), the NBC network’s weekend comedy staple follows the “affirming left-wing worldviews” model favored by many progressive comedians these days.
It wasn’t always like that. From time to time, there were some strange things on the show, including during the 2020 election – especially during the Democratic primaries, which were not long in coming for the election campaign of then-California Senator Kamala Harris.
I wrote at the time about how Maya Rudolph, the actress who played Harris at the time, found out that Harris had been selected as Biden’s vice president: her expression and earnest reaction were worth their weight in gold (I wish it existed, but the video in the story below was made private. It Is in the clip at the end of the story, however).

The way this “SNL” comedian learned that Kamala Harris is Biden’s vice president is adorable
Fast forward to 2024, where, of course, the political scenario is very different: Harris, who was Joe Biden’s vice president for three and a half years, is now suddenly the Democratic presidential candidate, replacing Biden. And now we know who the candidate will be until the election.
It has just been announced that Rudolph will return as a guest star, as she is a regular on another show. Fortunately, that other show is produced by a name familiar to SNL viewers of any era – Lorne Michaels – so it would be a problem if she took time off to aid out on 30 Rock.
This has already been an outstanding year for the comedian: Rudolph was honored with numerous Emmy nominations for 2024 (four!).
Maya Rudolph received four Emmy nominations this year for three different shows: “Loot,” “Big Mouth” and “Saturday Night Live.”

Unsurprisingly, one of these nominations is for a guest appearance on the comedy show as “Kamala.” However, fans will have to wait until at least the end of September to see her in that role again, as “Saturday Night Live” is on summer break.
above diversity
Maya Rudolph was sworn in again on “Saturday Night Live,” where she is expected to play the role of Vice President Kamala Harris until the 2024 presidential election.
Season 50 of “SNL” will premiere on Sept. 28. While Rudolph was preparing to film Season 3 of her Apple TV+ comedy series “Loot,” sources said production was delayed so Rudolph could return to 30 Rock’s Studio 8H. (Both “Loot” and “SNL” are produced by Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video.)
So far, neither Rudolph nor SNL have commented on the story. I bet it will be just as entertaining as the first time.
