As we reported, Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee have concluded their three-year investigation into the disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal under Biden and Harris, which resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers and 170 Afghans. Some details were released on Sunday – and they were damning for the administration:
Damning Republican House report on Afghanistan withdrawal concludes Biden ignored his advisers and lied to America
Fast forward to Monday, and the full report was released. An incensed – and furious – Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R-TX), along with other committee members, held a press conference with Gold Star families outside the Capitol to discuss their findings. He insisted that the report was not political:
Our report was published today and is over 300 pages long. It is a historical document. It is not a political document. It was a document designed to bring the truth to delicate.
What we found was significant. This was a catastrophic failure of epic proportions. Some say Saigon was the worst. I say it was, for many reasons…
The Foreign Ministry has completely failed in [their] Responsibility. …
If you don’t have a plan, you’re planning to fail. That was a failure. For everyone, but especially for the families who support me.

He spoke passionately about the heroes who lost their lives that day – and about how none of this should have happened.
170 Afghans killed… 45 Americans and Afghan civilians injured! The melancholy thing is, it could have been prevented – if only we had had a plan.

After McCaul concluded his address, several Gold Star families paid touching tributes to their fallen sons and daughters. They are still speaking to one another as of this writing.

Click You can find the full report hereentitled “Willful Blindness: An Assessment of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Chaos that Followed.” The committee summarized its Key findings:
- The Biden-Harris administration was determined to withdraw from Afghanistan, with or without the Doha Agreement
- For the Biden-Harris administration, the optics of the withdrawal were more crucial than the safety of US personnel on the ground.
- The failure of the Biden-Harris administration to prepare for and order a NEO in a timely manner created an unsafe environment at the HKIA. U.S. Department of Defense and State Department personnel have been subjected to deadly threats and emotional harm.
- Following the withdrawal, U.S. national security was compromised as Afghanistan once again became a haven for terrorists, including al-Qaeda and ISIS-K.
- The Biden-Harris administration has misled and, in some cases, outright lied to the American people at every stage of the withdrawal. from before the go-to-zero order until today.
- The Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous withdrawal has triggered a crisis within the U.S. military and among American veterans.
- Afghanistan has once again become a sheltered haven for terrorists, providing governance space for terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, ISIS-K and the Taliban’s Haqqani network.
- The Biden-Harris administration’s deliberate blindness has left the United States once again vulnerable to attacks from Afghanistan.
- Our adversaries such as Russia, China and Iran saw their weakness in the tumultuous and deadly evacuation and were emboldened by it.
- When Kabul fell, many drew comparisons with Saigon because once again US helicopters flew Americans out of a US embassy and abandoned long-time allies.
The botched withdrawal of the Biden-Harris team is a shadowy day in American history and should never have happened. McCaul has cast a harsh delicate on the leadership of the President and Vice President, and the results are not kind. Donald Trump should support Harris – the “last person in the roomwhen Biden made the fatal decision – at Tuesday’s debate and at every other opportunity as often as possible.
