Let’s just be sincere.

Regardless of the ongoing discussions and predictions about the vice presidential election as to who Donald Trump will nominate as his vice presidential running mate, we all know that at the end of the proverbial day, it won’t matter at all. The reason for this is because Trump would be at the top of the list from the start.

According to a novel Rasmussen Reports According to a poll, both Republicans and Democrats say Trump’s choice of vice presidential candidate will not make “a big difference” on Election Day.

While the Trump vice presidential election has been a sizzling topic for months, recent reports speculate that the three most likely candidates are North Dakota Republican Governor Doug Burgum and Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and JD Vance (R-OH).

Donald Trump has huge plans for his vice presidential candidate

The Washington Examiner‘s Tiana Lowe Doescher believes the rumored shortlist stems from Trump’s preference for “prime-time central casting”:

Marco Rubio, incredible speaker, same with JD Vance, great personal story, and Doug Burgum, a billionaire himself, very successful businessman. Look, they don’t necessarily secure a significant voter base, although it’s not clear on the map right now that Trump really needs that, right?

He’s ahead in every single swing state except Wisconsin and Michigan, where he’s basically tied. That’s a huge difference from previous elections where he was behind in all those swing states until he maybe won them. So that doesn’t worry him too much, but actually Trump doesn’t want a repeat of Mike Pence. He doesn’t want to feel undermined.

I will not get involved in the “Mike Pence thing” because if I do, I will not change anyone’s mind. However, according to the Rasmussen poll, Trump’s election for 2024 is irrelevant for eight out of ten voterson both sides of the aisle.

The Rasmussen Report’s latest nationwide telephone and online poll shows that 80 percent of likely U.S. voters believe Trump’s choice of vice presidential candidate would not make much difference in whether or not they vote for the Republican. Only 13 percent believe Trump’s choice of vice president would matter.

Solid majorities from every political category – 82 percent of Republicans, 81 percent of Democrats and 76 percent of candidates with no political affiliation – say the choice of a vice presidential candidate will not make much difference in whether they vote for Trump.

Men (18%) are significantly more likely than women (13%) to think DeSantis is Trump’s best choice for vice president. However, men and women are roughly equally likely to think that Scott (men 12%, women 11%) and Carson (men 11%, women 12%) are the best candidates for vice president.

There’s that name again: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

While I don’t think DeSantis has even the slightest chance of becoming Trump’s running mate, I also know that nothing would surprise me in this crazy election year. I mean Nothing.

The conclusion

Thursday’s debate comes before either candidate becomes their respective party’s presidential nominee. While Trump’s choice is still unknown, he has said he knows who he will vote for. He also said his choice will “most likely” come at the debate.

Popcorn time or more teasing? Either way, it doesn’t really matter.
