A Republican adjutant of the Senate said that only a handful of GOP senators support the extended subsidies, while most of the caucus is powerful.
When asked whether he shares the willingness of Thune to negotiate the expansion of the ACA subsidies, spokesman Mike Johnson (R-La.) Dismissed the problem as “foreign” on Wednesday morning.
“This is currently a strange matter. What the Democrats are doing is to get a red herring. They try to bring in a political decision in December, which by the way has expired because they themselves, the democrats that are put into the law,” he said.
