RedState’s Top 10 Stories of 2024: Biden’s Brain Melts, Kamala Finds Solace in a Bottle

I think all of us at RedState can agree that 2024 has been a long and crazy news cycle. It began with the sprint to Super Tuesday, when the Republican presidential primary was on the lips of every conservative, and then went into overdrive for a 19-day period in June and July when three massive events changed the course of the election: the Biden/Trump one debate, the coup that ended Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, and the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. After this 19-day period, the news cycle did not take a break (and I must give a gigantic shout out to my editorial team and writers who did their best throughout this entire period).

RedState’s live blogs covering these pivotal events, as well as the conventions, debates and election night, were among our highest-traffic posts this year. Aside from these live blogs, here are RedState’s top 10 stories for 2024 (as measured by page views):

1. Las Vegas police records of Biden’s medical incident and Code 3 transport to airport released

Back in July, RedState reported on President Biden’s suspected transient ischemic attack (TIA) during his visit to Las Vegas. Biden spoke at the NAACP convention and was scheduled to speak at another convention the next day after a photo op at an iconic Mexican restaurant in the city. At the end of that visit, sources told RedState that Biden had a medical emergency that was a TIA, and that both the Secret Service and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department made efforts to get him to the single level ahead of Biden’s trip -1-area trauma center The doctor told them to go to the airport instead because they had all the medical equipment needed to treat Biden aboard Air Force One. When the police radio recordings of that day were released in August, we were the first website to publish them and the story went viral.

2nd New York man convicted of gunsmithing hobby after judge says 2nd Amendment ‘does not exist in this courtroom’

From Jeff Charles:

A Brooklyn man was convicted of 13 weapons offenses after he was arrested and charged in 2022 for building his own firearms. Dexter Taylor’s ordeal could become a landmark case under the Second Amendment The bridge Judgment issued in the same year.

The jury found Taylor guilty of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded weapon, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, five counts of criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of five or more firearms and unlawful possession of handgun ammunition, violating the registration certificate, ban on unfinished frames or sleeves.

3. HUGE: Border Patrol turns against Joe Biden, announces support for Texas National Guard

Back in January, Bonchie told us the story of Border Patrol agents refusing to carry out Biden’s ultimatum to withdraw Texas National Guard forces from Shelby Park and other “disputed” areas.

Ordinary BP agents will not start arresting TX NG members for following their LEGAL orders. This is bogus news.

TX NG and basic BP agents work together and respect each other’s work. Period. If TX NG members have LEGITIMATE orders, they must carry out those orders.

TX NG members realize that even lowly BP agents have their orders. Lawful orders must be obeyed, no matter how unpopular or repugnant they are to rank-and-file agents. Illegal orders (determined by competent legal counsel and not what some lawyer says behind the keyboard) will not be followed.

4. More Tales from the Swamp – This is where missing Congresswoman Kay Granger was found

Just a few weeks ago, RedState’s Becky Noble was ahead of the curve when she brought this huge story to RedState readers. Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX) last recorded a vote in July and her offices have been closed since November. Where was she found?

The newspaper discovered that Rep. Granger was now a resident of a local memory care and assisted living home and had been for some time, after she was found confused and wandering in her neighborhood. Taylor Manzeil, assistant executive director of the memory care and assisted living home, confirmed that Granger was a resident, saying, “This is her home.”

Given the extremely narrow majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives and the critical bills being voted on, ignoring Granger’s obstruction and not taking action to fill this seat is inexcusable.

5. Biden freaks out in South Carolina and starts screaming about Trump

Back in January (and even before that), Republicans denounced Biden’s extremely obvious mental capacity deficiencies, but press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly derided videos like this as “cheap fakes” and claimed they were presented without context – even though it was were live broadcasts on television.

As our Nick Arama wrote in this story, “Seriously, he is not well and we are in danger as this man holds the highest office in the land.”

6. WATCH: The look on Kamala’s face when the teleprompter goes off at a work event in Flint, MI

From Nick Arama:

7. Kamala Harris got into law school through a program she didn’t qualify for

Jim Thompson pointed out a major problem with DEI/affirmative action programs: fraud and abuse by people who are not eligible for this preferential treatment.

8. Ben Shapiro faced off against 25 Kamala Harris voters in a debate and the results were incredible

From Bonchie:

9. Kamala Harris’ fresh nickname is so entertaining and spot on

From Nick Arama:

Unfortunately, this Generation Z “influencer” doesn’t know that “Mala” means “bad” in Spanish, and it gets worse…

10. The fallout from Kamala Harris’ “Drunk” video gets even more brutal

Many of us suspected that the vice president’s favorite flavor of Copium during the campaign was Chardonnay (even Saturday Night Live!), but it was clear that fortified grape juice gave her comfort after her brutal loss. Sister Toldjah brought us this recap, and former RedStater Dan McLaughlin pointed out that posting a video of Harris so obviously drunk was a major betrayal on the part of Harris’ staff.

Now, this list isn’t a top 10 when it comes to which events in 2024 are the most essential in the long term; This is simply a list of the stories our readers found most compelling this year. In my opinion, the biggest stories of the year (in no particular order) were the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Nancy Pelosi-led coup against Joe Biden, and the fallout from the Donald Trump-Joe Biden debate. The IRS whistleblower story was also huge and resulted in Hunter Biden being convicted on federal charges in two states, although he was ultimately pardoned. And of course, Donald Trump’s resounding and massive general election victory, made possible by the first true coalition movement in the United States and the RedState-backed ouster of RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, was groundbreaking and ushered in a fresh era in Republican and American politics a .

All in all, 2024 was a great year for Republicans and for RedState, and a fitting way to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
