Washington (AP) – Democratic MPs Al Green from Texas was not the first legislator to ever triggered a protest step during a speech to the Congress from the President.
But he may be the only one recently that will actually be ejected from the hall by the spokesman for the house on Tuesday evening.
After that, Green said it was worth it to illustrate his point of view – even if he was punished by the house drivers who later asked the Congressmen to be censored.
“The president said he had a mandate and I made it clear that he had no mandate not to shorten Medicaid,” Green told reporters and referred to the health program of 80 million Americans.
“It is worthwhile to let people know that there are some of us who will face this president.”
Green’s outburst came before the congress at the beginning of President Donald Trump’s speech and immediately set the tone. The night was restless. Democrats with stone faces, now the minority party, had quietly sat on the one hand of the chamber and on the other hand, Wild Republicans were sitting.
When Green climb to spoke to the president, the Republicans shook him with muscular chants of “USA! USA!”
Johnson eyed the situation from his place on the podium behind Trump and seemed hesitantly to interrupt the president’s speech. But the spokesman shook his head and clearly wished in the chamber. Vice President JD Vance set out with his thumb to throw Green out.
The speaker spent a warning for order and hit the hammer. “Take your place, Sir!” But the long -time congress member remained standing. And then Johnson ordered the Sergeant to restore the order by removing green from the chamber.
Rarely was a legislator for improper behavior so quickly and strongly disciplined.
Johnson then said that green should be censored by the house – among the more solemn people who could assume his colleagues.
“He wrote the story in a terrible way,” said Johnson then reporters.
“If you want to make a 77-year-old congress member of your resistance, if that is the Democratic Party, be it,” said Johnson. “But we won’t tolerate it on the house floor.”
In recent years, several legislators have searched for their votes for the scream with the president – by GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greenes scream against President Joe Biden and the “You lie!” Outbreak by Rep. Joe Wilson, Rs.c. Against President Barack Obama.
Of course, Trump’s first term of office did not enhance her voice, but tore down the speech of the President on the Daiser after he had ended her.
Green has been a crucial legislator since his first election for 2004 Congress, which was often alone on Tuesday evening.
In 2017 he presented the officials against Trump and maneuvered the party leadership. And he did it again in 2019, shortly before Pelosi, listed by Pelosi, actually made a separate office for Trump’s back of office for the financing of Ukraine when it fought against Russia.
Last year Green faded his own colleagues when he stormed out of his hospital bed, where he recovered from the operation to vote against the Republicans to complain about bideters secretary of the home protection, Alejandro Mayorkas. The vote failed with his arrival, although the Republicans were withdrawn and accused of days later.
Green warned on Tuesday of Republican efforts in her budget proposal to change Medicaid. He also warned against Medicare, the program for seniors and the pension program for social security.
“This is about being punished because they lose their health care,” said Green.
“This is the richest country in the world,” he said. “And health care is about to become a privacy and we cannot allow that.”
Green said that he is working on recent officials against Trump.
“This president is not suitable,” said Green. “He shouldn’t keep the office.”
