Radio host, conservative commentator and former intelligence agent Dan Bongino condemned the lax tactics of Donald Trump’s intelligence agency following an assassination attempt on Saturday afternoon and the killing of a rally attendee. Bongino particularly blamed US Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle.
I would like to reiterate and can absolutely confirm that USSS Director Kim Cheatle has repeatedly turned down requests for a larger security presence around President Trump, despite knowing that the threat level is catastrophic.
Resign tonight. https://t.co/v3UQyTt1dK— Dan Bongino (@dbongino) July 14, 2024

When Bongino made these allegations, they had not been confirmed by anyone, but Bongino is not known for talking rubbish or making sweeping accusations to incite his followers or get clicks. Bongino used to be a secret agent, so if he alludes to being fed information by an inside source, that is certainly worth noting.

Actively communicating with a number of former Secret Service colleagues about the assassination attempt. This is obviously a catastrophic failure and NO excuses should be made or even attempted. The failures are sedate and questions must be answered about ground surveillance, air surveillance, post stander support, and anti-sniper prep and response. We have ONE task and today we were inches from a fatal failure. An uneventful failure is NOT a success.
Not long after Bongino published his posts, Sean Davis, co-founder of The Federalist, confirmed this. Davis’ sources also said that the Trump campaign’s requests to expand its Secret Service had been rebuffed more than once.

BREAKING NEWS: A source familiar with Trump’s security forces reports @FDRLST that officials of the former and future president have been demanding increased protection and more resources for weeks, but have been repeatedly rebuffed by Biden’s DHS.
The DHS, which is responsible for the Secret Service’s security force, “has not responded to these requests” for more resources, the source said.
Is Biden’s regime behind the attack or did it consciously do everything it could to make it possible?

In a special edition of his podcast, Bongino sharply criticized Cheatle for her political posturing and called for her immediate resignation.
.@dbongino calls on Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle to resign immediately following the attempted assassination of Trump.

“It’s now time for Kim Cheatle to get her head out of her ass and do the right thing. I could tell you stories for days about how she puts politics above protecting the president.”
Just last Sunday, Cheatle spoke to George Stephanopoulos on ABC News This Week’s Senate and confidently claimed that there was “nothing concrete and nothing credible” regarding the threats.

In airy of Saturday night’s assassination, this interview is the epitome of hubris. Others are joining Bongino in calling for Cheatle’s resignation.
This is Kimberly Cheatle. She is the director of the Secret Service.
She must resign immediately and then testify before Congress how this could have happened during her term in office. pic.twitter.com/6W44EkhydX

Republican members of Congress are already calling for an independent investigation into the security failures that led to the assassination, and the House Oversight Committee has invited Cheatle to testify on Monday, July 22.
