As I wrote the other day, “The problem with a dam is that once it breaks, there’s not much you can do except get out of the way and wait for it all to come out.” Well, it looks like that’s exactly what’s happening, because the dam that has protected President Joe Biden for the past three and a half years is finally breaking.
A tectonic shift has apparently taken place:
At least 25 Democrats in the House of Representatives are preparing to call on the 81-year-old president to abandon his re-election campaign in the wake of his disastrous debate against former President Donald Trump, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing a Democratic House aide.
Centrist Democrats in the contested districts – the lawmakers most at risk of losing their seats in November – were so alarmed by Biden’s feeble performance in last week’s debate with the 78-year-old presumptive Republican nominee that they are considering writing a letter to Biden, according to the newspaper.

As we have noted, Democratic lawmakers are increasingly concerned about Biden’s strategy (or lack thereof) following Biden’s disastrous performance in the debate.

Both Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas and Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Mexico publicly stated on Tuesday that the 80-year-old president should drop out of the race.
Time to go away
Another Democrat in the House of Representatives is leaving Biden: “Trump will win. And that’s okay with me.”
Representative is the first elected Democrat to call on Biden to drop out of the race
Senate Democrats are also concerned, as Joe Manchin of West Virginia is reported to talked about the edge:
In the Senate, centrist Joe Manchin showed that he needed to be saved from the abyss and was preparing to become Biden’s first ally to call on him to resign in one of the Sunday news bulletins.
“Nobody wants to be the first to stab Julius Caesar,” a party insider said of Manchin’s predicament.
Democratic Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) also seemed to jump off the sinking ship. a local point of sale“The truth, in my opinion, is that Biden will lose to Trump.”
“I know this is difficult, but I think the damage has been done by this debate,” she added, but did not directly say Biden should drop out.
The news that so many former Democrats are considering abandoning their positions must be shaking Biden’s campaign team, and it’s unclear how long he can survive this revolt. For now, he and his team remain defiant, loudly declaring that the compromised candidate will stay in the race, but at this point, that seems like a completely unrealistic goal.
