Sanders jokingly calls Ocasio-Cortez his ‘daughter’ at Utah Rally

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Joked on Sunday at a joint appearance at a rally by Utah that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) was his daughter, who praised the progressive legislator and highlighted her background.

“Now I want to say a word about my daughter,” said Sanders, putting his hand on the shoulder of Ocasio-Cortez.

The New York Congressmen and the crowd laughed.

“No,” said Sanders and shifted to a stern tone. “I want to say a word about Alexandria and why, why what it does is so important.”

Sanders told the story of Ocasio-Cortez ‘entry into politics and found that the top-class Democrat was a waitress six years ago and decided to take over an establishment democrat in the congress. Before fighting the office, Ocasio-Cortez was a joint organizer for the Sanders 2016 presidential campaign.

“She looked around and saw a society that was fundamentally unfair and in many ways for the people in the community in which she lived in New York,” said Sanders.

“She got up and accepted one of the most powerful people in the House of Representatives, and she started with almost no money against the guy who had unlimited remedies, and she hit him,” he added.

Ocasio-Cortez also noticed on her background as a waitress and opposed Republicans who said she was not qualified to serve in the congress.

“But the fact is that many of us are much more qualified to know how real life actually is than each of them ever become,” she said at Utah’s rally. “And I don’t tell this story because it is something special, but because it, how often and normal it is.”

“While the details can differ, as many of us know what it feels like that a bad day is a bad day, bad news, an important setback from everything that falls apart, and we no longer have to live as much,” she continued and campaigned for living wages, stable apartments and guaranteed health care.

“Oligarchy or democracy,” she added. “And we are here today because we choose democracy.”

During a stop on Sanders and Ocasio Cortez ‘”Fight Oligarchy” tour, the remarks, during which the progressive duo attracted thousands of participants in rallies on the battlefield.

Sanders asked the people in the audience at the rally of Utah on Sunday to step in Ocasio-Cortez ‘footsteps and to go “outside their comfort zone”.
