Washington (Nexstar)-after almost fighting at a hearing in the congress in 2023, the Republican Senator of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mulllin, and the president of the teamster Sean O’Brien laid their differences to support Lori Chavez deremer for Labor Secretary.
“Actually we have a really good friendship,” said Mulllin in a video contribution to X.
According to Mulllin, Deremer can close the gap between companies and employees.
“It is uniquely positioned directly in the middle,” said Mullin.
Deremer brought this position into the balmy seat on Wednesday. The senators placed the former Republican Congressman of Oregon according to a law that she had sponsored as a pro-act.
“I realize that this draft law was imperfect, and I also recognize that I no longer represent Oregon as legislators,” said Deremer.
The Pro act would have made it easier for workers to organize and weaken the “right to work” of states that can avoid employees to take part in unions.
“This is an enormous type of invasion of the rights of the state,” said Senator Randa Paul (R-Ky.) About the Pro Law.
Senator Paul returned after Deremer said that she did not support this part of the law.
“So they no longer support the aspect of the Pro law that would have lifted state law on labor laws?” Paul asked. “This is a yes? No more questions.”
Deremer said she had undertaken to achieve the goal of the president.
“Make sure that companies, unions and especially the American worker ensure a flat field,” said Deremer.
Democrats have now questioned their loyalities to President Trump. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) Asked how she would deal with potential studies on Elon Musk’s business.
“If the President asks you to give you access to information to help a friend of him who has pending investigations? Wouldn’t you say no?” Asked Murphy.
“Until I am confirmed, I could not say without having the full picture,” said Deremer.
