The list of things going wrong for the Democrats seems to be getting longer by the minute, and this latest news could prove detrimental not only to the top candidates, but also to those further down the ballot.

Michael Pruser focuses on voter turnout and voter registration for Decision Desk HQ and in June published a list of all of his parties’ voter registration changes.

Under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida has transformed from a swing state to a red state, but that was not the biggest surprise given the voter registration changes in June.

The state with the most registered Republicans was the Democratic state of New Jersey. Yes, there are a lot of conservatives in New Jersey, but the governor, secretary of state, attorney general, and both houses of the legislature are Democratic, so this change in registration numbers is definitely eye-opening.

Before Trump’s rally in New Jersey, William Atkins, a student at Seton Hall University, commented on the current situation and the importance of the Republicans in New Jersey:

That means there’s momentum in New Jersey. That means Trump is paying attention to the numbers, and I want to commend the NJ GOP for that because they’re running an amazing ground campaign in registering novel party voters. And in New Jersey, we’ve had twice as many Republican registrations as Democratic registrations in the last few months, and for a Democratic state, that really puts the emphasis on what can happen in November.

In 2020, Biden received 57.1 percent of the vote, Trump 41.3 percent. According to registration numbers, the vote in 2024 is likely to be much closer.

In terms of net gain, the Florida Republican Party is the winner, gaining over 23,000 voters while Democrats lost 522 voters and 15,000 voters registered as no party preference, Libertarians, or Greens.

Another notable state is North Carolina. Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper is currently in charge there, but June registration numbers show the GOP gained over 15,000 voters, while Democrats lost 915 voters and third parties gained 55,000 voters. This could be a sign that North Carolina will not only maintain its majority in the state legislature, but also elect Republican Mark Robinson as governor.

The tide is turning, not only in Florida and New Jersey, but in many other states that have had enough of Democratic policies and will make their voices heard at the polls in November.

Registration changes for Arizona, Maine and California will also be released in July.
