New York (AP) -Mahmoud Khalil will be detained in Louisiana until at least next week, but can finally speak to lawyers while fighting the Trump government’s plans to deport the students of Columbia University for his role in campus protests against Israel.
The tiny hearing, which focused on thorny questions of jurisdiction, attracted hundreds of demonstrators to the Federal Supreme Court in Lower Manhattan to get the arrest of Khalil on Saturday, a constant US resident who is married to an American citizen.
The 30 -year -old Khalil was not brought to the hearing by an immigration finding center in Louisiana, where he stayed with a Lockup in New Jersey after a tiny stop.
