The embarrassing exchange between reporter and Pierre Poilievre about how many genders there are is a topic of conversation

On the first day of his second term, President Donald Trump put common sense and reason at the forefront by signing an executive order that stated, “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two genders, male and female.”

The commandwhich also sets out the definitions that “shall govern the executive branch’s entire interpretation and application of federal law and administrative policy,” was naturally met with applause from real-world individuals who have grown tired of being gaslighted over the past four years – some of them, in fact, were forced to bow at the altar of gender identity politics or risk cancellation

Awakened leftists, on the other hand, were not cheerful because there were already some LGBTQ groups prepare to file lawsuits, while others questioned whether some of the language in the EO paved a path to a federal abortion ban.

Beyond the northern border, Canada has also seen some massive changes recently, with the impending resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sparking renewed debate about what the future holds for Canada after the upcoming election in October.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has positioned himself as the anti-Trudeau in recent years, becoming a rock star in his country (and to some extent in the United States) as he prepares for what he hopes will become his next Role: Prime Minister.

Poilievre, who has a Ron DeSantis-like approach to the media, was recently asked about Trump’s executive order and whether he has any plans to implement something like that himself if elected.

The exchange was both amusing and embarrassing, and Poilievre gave a brief answer near the end: “In my opinion, we should have a government that just minds its own damn business and leaves the people alone to go about their business. “ My own personal decisions. That is the kind of government I will lead.

Regard:

Between looking at the subsection above and the slightly longer section below YouTube (or Twitter/X), it’s pretty clear that he sees the issue as a private/personal issue and not one that the government should interfere with in any way.

Canadian professor David Millard Haskell recommended that Poilievre’s response would disappoint Canada’s Conservatives:

In Canada, there are traditional conservatives who have courageously and publicly spoken out against radical gender ideology, all at great personal cost. You will find this answer from @PierrePoilievre disappointing.

Another tweeted “This idea is what we call ‘trying to avoid the topic because there is no answer that the team has been able to figure out’.”

After watching their back and forth over and over again, Poilievre’s response made me understand even more how Trump recognizes that his activists on the left and in the media have made this a local/state/federal issue by forcing them have to “take care” of it. . One of the best ways to undo the damage done to women’s rights under the Biden administration is exactly what Trump did on Monday by signing this executive order.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I thought that problems like this were at least as widespread, if not more so, in Canada than in the United States.

Poilievre’s response may have been a tactic designed to keep discussion of social issues at a low level, similar to how some Republicans previously tried to avoid conversations about abortion. But in my opinion now is not the time for vagueness and prevarication on this matter.

Fortunately, Trump has made it clear where he stands. Canadian Conservatives, for whom this issue is a top priority, on the other hand, might find it beneficial if Poilievre makes it abundantly clear where he stands, because even if it is a “minor” issue right now, it won’t be that way yet stay that way for long when leaders who have the power to do something about it think the answer is to look the other way.
