Seattle (AP) -The democratic governors of Washington, Oregon and California announced on Wednesday that they had created an alliance to determine their own recommendations for who should receive vaccines because they believe that the management of the Trump government endangers the health of Americans by politicizing the US centers for the control and prevention of diseases.
The announcement was made on the same day when Florida said that all mandates for children’s vaccines would expire. Republican governor Ron Desantis plans to contain the vaccine requirements and other health mandates that have developed in his state during the Covid 19 pandemic.
The different answers come when the cases of Covid-19 raise and the health minister Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has restructured and reduced the CDC and tried to advance the guidelines of the anti-vaccination stalls that are refuted by decades of scientific research. The concerns about the staff and the budget cuts were reinforced after the white house tried to suppress the director of the agency, and some TOP CDC leader in protest.
“The CDC has become a political instrument that increasingly ideology instead of science, ideology, which will lead to serious health consequences,” said the governors in a joint explanation.
“The reduction of public health and dismissal of experienced and respected health leaders and consultants as well as the lack of science, data and evidence to improve the health of our country are the risk,” said Erica Pan, health officer of the California state, in the press release.
Dennis Worsham, Health Secretary of the US state of Washington, said that public health is about prevention – “preventing diseases from preventing diseases and preventing early, avoidable deaths”.
“Vaccines are among the most powerful tools in modern medicine. They have undeniably saved millions of life,” said Sejal Hathi, Health Director of Oregon. “But if the instructions for your use are inconsistent or politicized, this undermines public trust exactly the moment we need it the most.”
The partnership is looking for specialist medical advice
The three states are planning to coordinate their vaccine recommendations and immunization plans based on scientific evidence of respected national medical organizations, said a joint explanation by governor Bob Ferguson from Washington, Governor Tina Kotek from Oregon and Gaverneur Gavino Newsom from California.
The spokesman for the US Ministry of Health and Human Services, Andrew G. Nixon, shot back in a statement on Wednesday that “the states conducted by Democrats who have brought unscientific school closures, mandates for toddlers and draconian vaccine passes during the Covid era in the public health authorities.”
He said that the administration’s advisory committee for administration vaccination practices is still the scientific corporate recommendations in this country, and HHS will ensure that politics is based on strict evidence and gold standards, not based on the failed policy of pandemic. “
Public health authorities across the country begin vaccination efforts
In the meantime, public health authorities across the country have taken steps to ensure that their states have access to vaccines after the US supervisory authorities have achieved fresh guidelines that have restricted access to COVID-19 shots.
The Ministry of Health of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said last week that the advice of medical experts and a separate vaccination advisory committee for COVID-19 vaccines and other immunizations for the autumn datemway season.
The Ministry of Health is planning to offer the citizens “to offer specific instructions by the end of September to help Illinois health service providers and residents make sound decisions about vaccination and to protect themselves and their relatives,” said health director Sameer Vohra in a statement.
New Mexico said it updated its protocols to enable the state’s pharmacists to recommend the state’s recommendations in the administration of vaccines and not only the Federal Advice Committee on immunization practices.
“This order will remove obstacles to vaccination access,” said health secretary Gina Deblassie in a statement.
Last month, officials from eight northeast states met in Rhode Island to discuss the coordinating vaccine recommendations. The group included all New England countries with the exception of New Hampshire as well as New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Maura Healey, Governor of Massachusetts, a democrat, critical federal cuts for the financing of public health and the restrictions on vaccines, said her state led the cross -party coalition.
“We will make sure that people get the vaccines they need – no matter what the Trump government is doing,” she said in an explanation.
A spokesman for the Department of Public Health in Connecticut said on Wednesday that cross -border meetings are “nothing new”.
“Challenges for public health go beyond the national borders and make cooperation significantly for effective reaction and prevention efforts,” said the agency in a statement. Last month, the states were able to “share numerous best strategies for public health to meet the needs of our states in a time of restructuring and cuts in federal health”.
States came together beforehand
The West Coast Alliance is not the first time that democratically guided countries have come together to coordinate the guidelines in connection with public health.
In the first months of Coronavirus pandemic, the states formed regional alliances to obtain the purchasing power for breathing apparatus, gloves and other personal protective equipment for front line workers and to coordinate the reopening of their largely closed economies.
The governors on the northeast and west coast – all except for a Democrat – announced 2020 hours after Trump said on social media that it would be his decision to “open the states”.
