Washington -The US Senate voted on Thursday for the approval of dozens of candidates and lasted for a change of rule of the GOP leadership last week, which enables the chamber to confirm some of the President’s representatives in immense batches instead of a time.
The votes from 51-47 followed the debate about whether senators could work out a deal about groups of candidates, whereby Democrats warn on the way that changes to the Senate procedures, which are now going to benefit the Trump government, will probably support a future democratic president.
“What the Republicans have done is that the Senate gives more power to Donald Trump and the rubber stamp, who he wants whenever he wants them, no questions that the minority leaders of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, last week after the Republicans initiated the change of control.
The majority leader of the Senate, John Thune, Rs.d., said on Thursday a few hours before the vote during a Floor speech that the change of the rules was necessary after the Democrats “completely canceled the confirmation process”.
The Democrats’ assessment of the Democrats refuted that Trump sent the Senate “historically bad” candidates and said that many of his tips received democratic voices.
“Each one of these 48 nominees was chosen with cross -party support from the committee. Everyone. A considerable number of them was supported by the majority of the Democrats in their respective committees,” said Thune.
“With another president, this would be exactly the kind of candidates that we would confirm in a batch by unanimous approval or language vote,” added Thune. “The disability of the Democrats is not about the quality of the candidates. Just let us calm, pure and simple. It is about the inability of the Democrats to accept the fact that the American people have chosen Donald Trump.”
The eight -sided resolutionProbably the first of many, listed 48 nominees, including
- Theodore J. Garrish from Maryland as deputy energy (nuclear energy);
- Jessica Kramer from Wisconsin as deputy administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency;
- Sean McMaster from Virginia as administrator of the Federal Highway Administration;
- Justin Overbaugh from Florida to be deputy under Defense Minister;
- Scott Pappano from Pennsylvania as the main administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration;
- Peter Thomson from Louisiana, General Inspector at the Central Intelligence Agency; And
- Andrea Travnicek from North Dakota as deputy interior minister.
The vote was followed by weeks of frustration by Trump and numerous GOP senators who are upset by Democrats who ponderous down the confirmation process for lower candidates.
The fresh way of managing “en bloc” nominations does not apply to the Supreme Court or to higher judicial candidates or for cabinet levels.
