A conservative political advocacy group is running Spanish-language ads to remind non-citizens that it is illegal for them to vote in federal elections.
The group — Look Ahead America — is a nonprofit led by Matt Braynard, a former strategic director for Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign.
The ads are strategically placed in major cities in the crucial presidential transition states of Nevada and Arizona, but the group try to expand to key markets in Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
“The participation of non-citizens in federal elections is illegal under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996,” Braynard said in a statement announcing the advertising campaign.
“However, there are still cases where this occurs, putting non-citizens at risk of facing serious charges and influencing the outcome of our elections,” he claims.
