New York (AP) -The Veteran of the Army, Samuel Port, could not believe what he wrote in his last weekly newsletter from the US veteran department by e -mail.
It accused the Democrats of the Senate for the closure of the federal government and said that they blocked a Stopgap law to finance the government “due to non -related political requirements”. Then various disorders of the resources of the veterans were listed.
According to the port, the fingering of a federal authority was inappropriate and lacked the context that Republicans could have taken steps to keep the government financed. He said it had gone away from every trust he left in the VA to offer services without a political agenda.
“This obvious propaganda was amazing,” said Port, a Virginia -based volunteer of the progressive advocacy organization common defense. “Then the astonishment was just astonishing that we would be politicized so.”
Hafen belongs to a growing number of Americans whose routine interactions with the federal government come with partisans news this week. Since a deadlock of the Senate does not finance the Federal Government, without an end in sight, some traditionally apolitical federal authorities apply their official channels to spread a coordinated political message: it is the guilt of the Democrats.
The political party blamed the rhetoric, which appears in vivid red website, e-mail autoreplies and social media posts, which is no longer in power in Washington when both sides refuse to take up the other.
Democrats, who have minorities both in the US Senate and in the US House, have asked for a number of health insurance tax credits to be extended before registering for a business. Republicans who need several democratic voices in the Senate said that these negotiations should wait until the financing measure passes.
Experts say that the communication strategy from all over the federal government reflects, as President Donald Trump’s entire administration has become in the organization of his political opponents.
Far partisan as the uncomplicated notifications, which usually request the agency website during the shutdown, the messages correspond to the pattern of Trump, loyalty and obedience at all government levels.
“There was really a consistent and persistent exertion to try to pull the entire bureaucracy synchronously,” said Don Kettl, emeritus professor and former dean of public order at the University of Maryland. “The great risk here is that it undermines the fundamental trust that people have in the government’s ability to be impartial.”
Several government websites accuse Democrats
Many Internet users noticed the first political contributions of government agencies on Tuesday before the closure began. The website of the US Ministry for Housing and Urban Development showed a news warning that “the radical left will close the government and cause massive pain to the American people, unless they receive their desired list of US dollars.”
This afternoon, employees in the federal government stated that they received news from their agencies in which Trump’s general opposition was found against a shutdown.
It is hard to know with certainty how many federal authorities and departments promote partisan language on websites, social media accounts and e -mail messages. Of the 15 executive departments in Trump’s cabinet, at least 10 messages have published this week in which Democrats or the “radical left” were held responsible for the shutdown of their official websites or social media accounts.
The Small Business Administration website brought your message to a red banner that recorded the entire screen on a smartphone. It is said that the Measures of the Senate Democrats prevent the agency from “serving 36 million small companies in America”. Other websites, including that of Food and Drug Administration, informed visitors that mission critical activities “would be continued during the government amplifier led by the Democrat”.
Several other federal authorities and departments have retained politically neutral messages, and simply found that there could be delays in services or updates due to the financing losses.
Employees outside the office are changed
No email messages were reset on the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, with the language democrats being responsible for the shutdown.
“On September 19, 2025, the HR 5371 House of Representatives passed a clean ongoing solution,” the message said. “Unfortunately, the democratic senators block the passage of HR 5371 in the Senate, which has led to a conclusion of the funds.”
Some employees tried to change it in a little parties just to see how it spoke out of fear of retaliation on the condition of anonymity.
The White House is not afraid of politics and shows a ticker after the second on its website to sum up the time for which “Democrats have closed the government”.
Affected citizens who call the Weißen House’s comment line on Wednesday also heard a political voicemail message. In the recording, press spokesman Karoline Leavitt Trump’s false claim repeated that the Democrats have forced the fight against the government to finance the health care of illegal immigrants.
Could the news violate the federal law?
Ethics Watchdogs said that the political messages of websites and e -mails from the government agency exceed the degree of partiality they have seen in the past.
Several experts said that the news also violates a law of 1939 called HATCH ACT, which limits certain political activities by federal employees. Kathleen Clark, lawyer and legal professor at Washington University, said that they “aim to pursue political advantages of the partisans” and therefore violate the law.
On Thursday, the Democrats of the House Oversight Committee sent a letter to the Office of Special Counsel, in which an investigation of the messages for “obvious violations of the Huke Act” was requested.
Donald K. Sherman, Executive Director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said that he does not believe that the messages violate the Huke Act because they discuss the Democratic Party with a political difference than with a choice or a candidate. Nevertheless, the postings could violate other ethics laws and “wild inappropriate”.
The spokesman for Veterans Affairs, Pete Kasperowicz, defended the e -mail message from his agency and said it was “100% factual”.
HUD secretary Scott Turner said in an interview on Wednesday evening with Newsnation that he was not worried about the allegations of the Hatch Act against his agency. He called her a “distraction” to distract himself from “irresponsible actions on the hill” and how “Americans are strongly influenced by this government closure”.
When asked about the Banner of the HUD website on Thursday morning, House speaker Mike Johnson said “the objective truth”.
“There are 44 Democrats in the Senate – and by the way every democrat in the house except one – who voted to close the government,” said Johnson in a press conference in front of his office. “You made this decision. The white house, the executive department, do not enjoy this.”
