Unsurprisingly, opinions vary wildly as to why President-elect Donald Trump was able to score such a decisive victory over Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s presidential election.
Perhaps the most disagreement is over the question “How did this happen?” The question comes from stunned Democrats and members of the media alike, who were no doubt certain before Election Day that their mix of law-breaking and demonizing the former president as the “next Hitler” would ultimately be his undoing.
Not only did it not happen that way, but the tactic completely backfired, with Trump crushing the Harris-Walz ticket, winning not only more than the required electoral votes, but also the popular vote, the latter even worse, all things considered was the left’s arguments about how we need to turn presidential elections into popular vote contests.

As is often the case with Democrats, when they lose perspective, their first thought is not to engage in introspection, but to shift blame to the people around them and their political opponents, because Democrats generally believe that the problem is not with them, but with everyone else.
But at least one Democrat in the House, Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), is on track with his assessment of what went wrong for them on Election Day. tell The elites on his side believe the far left is playing right into the hands of intelligent Republicans like Trump, leading to the sweeping GOP victories we saw Tuesday night thanks to voters fed up with Woke Inc.:
Donald Trump has no greater friend than the extreme left, which has managed to win historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Alienating Asians and Jews from the Democratic Party. Latinx.”
There is more to lose than gain politically by joining a far-left that is more representative of Twitter, Twitch and TikTok than the real world. The working class doesn’t buy the ivory tower nonsense that the far left sells.
There are also other issues that my colleague Ward Clark has talked about a lot more on the VIP page, but Torres has nailed some of the high-dollar issues that are causing members of normally reliable voting blocs to flee the Democratic party in droves.
Not that I want the Democrats to learn from their election defeats (and believe me, I’m not worried they will, because they never do), but it’s still refreshing to see that it still is there are a few halfway sensible voices. Voices that may one day decide that enough is enough and cross over to the murky side, where the “Garbage Coalition” continues to grow…
