They knew they would either ignore Hunter Biden’s federal gun conviction or completely distort the story. Right now, the left-wing mainstream propaganda media has chosen the latter.
While Hunter’s trial continued to expose the sordid underbelly of his former lascivious lifestyle — his penniless daughter was incredibly called as a witness and the widow of his then-lover/brother spoke of her descent into crack addiction with the First Son — the press somehow made this a loss for former president and presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump. Wednesday’s headlines:

It’s so predictable… and so pathetic. pic.twitter.com/s1QcFVC5bk

Yes, you read that right. Hunter’s conviction means Trump’s claim that the justice system was used as a weapon is now disproven, as wild-eyed prosecutors went after the president’s son and not just Republicans. But RedState’s Jeff Charles points out that some on the right believe the opposite – this trial proves that the Justice Department was used as a weapon against anyone What they don’t like:
“Shouldn’t even exist”: Gun rights activists react to the verdict in the gun trial against Hunter Biden
Others, such as businessman and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, believe the trial was a diversionary tactic and that Hunter was offered as a sacrificial lamb.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The Hunter Biden trial was a farce. It’s a diversionary tactic to legitimize the conviction of Trump and distract attention from the Biden family’s likely real crimes: selling out our foreign policy to make their family wealthy. Don’t fall for it. pic.twitter.com/Jyu7oEEb9u

The chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer (R-KY), had similar thoughts:
Speaking to Comer on Tuesday night, Watters asked the Kentucky Republican whether the president’s son was “taking the blame to save his father.”
“Well, it certainly looks that way,” Comer said on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
“Unless the Justice Department addresses the truly serious crimes, justice will not be served,” Comer continued. “If I were to list the ten worst crimes committed by the president’s son, lying on the gun application would be among them.”
Trump, for his part, wisely chose not to take a victory lap and boast; instead, he took a more solemn approach, pointing out that this trial merely diverted the spotlight from the much larger crimes in which the Biden Crime Family may have been involved. His national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, gave a rather muted statement:
Here is the REAL statement from the Trump campaign team on Hunter’s guilty verdict👇 https://t.co/LNssDDi4OX

The gaslighting media will try to tell you that this ruling disproves Trump’s claim that the legal system was weaponized by Democrats — but remember that this trial only happened because Judge Maryellen Noreika tore up the ridiculous deal the First Son’s lawyers had negotiated with the Justice Department. None of this changes the fact that the former president faced a series of ridiculous, politicized charges, including his conviction on 34 trumped-up counts of business fraud — charges that would never have been brought against anyone else.
They can try to sell us this false story, but sensible people won’t buy it.
I hope you recognize the media’s novel anti-Trump strategy.
They compare the very different case of convicted felon Hunter Biden to show that Donald Trump is wrong in his assumption that the system is rigged.
Not only is this idle, but it is also obviously done with malicious intent. pic.twitter.com/NEA8Eb8ZFV
