PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) – Later this month, GOP members in Putnam County will host “Stand and Speak: Honoring Charlie Kirk,” an event honoring the slow Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

According to a press release from the Putnam County Republican Executive Committee on Tuesday, the Putnam County Republican Party will hold the free, public event on Oct. 27 in the upstairs ceremonial courtroom of the historic Putnam County Courthouse starting at 6:30 p.m

The press release states the purpose of the event is to “promote First Amendment rights, encourage civic engagement and provide residents, particularly young people, the opportunity to exercise their right to free speech.”

Participants will also learn how to establish Turning Point USA chapters at local high schools.

The Putnam County Republican Party invites leaders and community members of all types to attend the event, network and engage in dialogue on civic issues.

“We are thrilled to honor Charlie Kirk for his unwavering commitment to free speech and empowering young people in the democratic process,” said Putnam County Republican Executive Committee Chairman Tony Hodge. “This event is a call for our community to come together, celebrate our First Amendment rights and ensure they are protected for future generations. We especially invite young people to join us and discover how they can defend free expression wherever life takes them.”

Guests expected to appear include Turning Point USA regional field representative William D’Amico, West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Josh Holstein and WVGOP Executive Director Ryan Jacinto. More will be announced at a later date.
