Josh Holstein, a 23-year-old state delegate who represents Boone County, is the recent leader of the state’s Republican party. Holstein was elected as chairman Summer meeting of the state executive committee in Morgantown Saturday.
“It was an honor. It was obviously an honor,” Holstein told West Virginia Watch on Monday. “I’m still humble, but we worked demanding and we had a lot of great discussions.
“People, I think they see the past age,” he said. “And you see willingness, drive and someone who is actually striving to make positive changes. I am very grateful to the members of the state executive committee that you have put your trust in me.”
Holstein said increasing communication was one of his first priorities as party chairman.
“I think we have failed as a party in recent years,” he said. “It can be recognized and recognized that our audience is on various social media platforms, and people are now preserving in many different ways. They meet people where they are essentially what we have to do,” he said.
Holstein from Ashford is a graduate of the Sherman High School and Marshall University, according to its biography, from the Delegate House. He leads an advertising company and has a license to replace teaching. He was first elected to the house in 2020.
He joined the Republican National Committee as the youngest of his 168 members across the country, the GOP announced in the press release.
Holstein said that the party would also contact independent voters to inform them about changes to the Republican area code next year.
From 2026, the GOP primary school is only open to the Republicans registered voters and closed for non -connected voters. The Executive Committee voted last year to close the elementary school to encourage voters to register as Republicans.
Holstein said that the party would also concentrate on county and municipal races, which has not been a main focus in recent years.
The Republicans hold the majority in both agencies of the state legislature, the office of the governor, the congress delegation of the state and the presidency.
“Obviously we are quite dominant at the state and legislative level, but there is still a lack of races of the municipal level and at the district level,” he said. “So we will concentrate on it and work with our respective district chairman and senatorial districts to achieve these goals in the coming months.”
Holstein takes the place of the former GOP chairman Matt Herridge. Who can effectively step back on Saturday. Herridge was appointed secretary of the state trading secretary in January.
