Republicans are gearing up for the quadrennial party known as the Republican National Convention (RNC). While it may not be as entertaining as the Democratic National Convention would suggest given the current state of the Democratic Party, Republicans will convene in Milwaukee to showcase their seemingly unified party and officially nominate Donald Trump as the Republican presidential candidate for 2024. While all of the party’s rising stars will undoubtedly speak in prime time, the absence of any of them may cause some surprise.
BREAKING NEWS: Nikki Haley is releasing all 97 of her delegates and urging them to vote for Trump at next week’s Republican National Convention, even though she herself is not invited to the event.

Former 2024 GOP presidential candidate, UN Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will not be present or speak at this year’s RNC. Haley will not be in Milwaukee, as a spokesperson for Haley says she was not invited. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was originally denied a speaking slot, but after a “change in schedule,” he will participate in a panel discussion hosted by Moms for Liberty and a breakfast with the Florida state delegation. and also have a speaking Time window.
On Tuesday, Haley released the delegates she had gathered, Win primaries in Vermont and the District of Columbia so those delegates will support Trump at the convention. DeSantis’ campaign didn’t last as long as Haley’s, dropping out of the race after finishing second in the Iowa caucuses. But is it a good idea to turn down potential 2028 GOP candidates?
In 2016, Donald Trump had to contend with Republicans who supported more “established” candidates like Jeb Bush or Chris Christie, as well as the ubiquitous “Never-Trumpers.” In 2024, Nikki Haley was considered another of these companies candidates because of their stance on the war in Ukraine and American support for it. Many Republicans had high hopes for a DeSantis campaign, but this campaign never seemed to fully recover from a troubled online launch.
While both conventions primarily serve to officially nominate their candidate, the other purpose is to promote rising stars in the party. In the case of the 2024 RNC, this is even more essential. Should Donald Trump be re-elected, he will only serve one more term. What doesn’t seem to be talked about enough is the fact that Republicans need to start focusing Now to a Republican Party after Trump. Who comes after Trump?
Ron DeSantis is now scheduled to speak at the RNC convention in Milwaukee next week, despite not previously being assigned a role at the event, a source familiar with the plans told CNN.
The decision to give him a speaking role in the show was made yesterday

Normally the answer to that would be whoever Trump picks as vice president, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Many Republicans may still think DeSantis is the closest thing to Trump 2.0, and timing may be on his side, too. He will finish two very successful terms as governor in 2026, giving him plenty of time to think about a second run for the White House. It’s very possible he’ll have much better luck the second time around. Haley was a little more defiant about Trump said in February, “I have no desire to kiss Trump’s ring.” That defiance may have cost her an invitation this year.
The RNC is keeping the list of speakers secret, but the rising stars will get their speaking time. While Nikki Haley is more in line with the time-honored RNC speakers, model and TV personality Amber Rose is not so inclined and will speak. Rose has taken some positions on Things like abortion And LGBTQ rights that are not necessarily compatible with time-honored conservatism. Many convention attendees may have a problem with Haley and her sudden support for Trump, but the reasons for removing Haley from the speaker list and adding Rose are likely to be of interest to those attendees.
The Republicans have a powerful bench – definitely a good problem to have. Just put the whole bench on display – 2028 will be here in a flash.
