Charleston, WV (Wowk) – For the first time, the Senators of West Virginia returned to the state capital for the first time.

On Saturday, the upper chamber passed invoices on various topics. In total, legislators passed 21 bills.

When the Republican Senator Brian Helton from Fayette County spoke about the overdose rate of the mountain State, he said: “I really think this is the most important problem in West Virginia. We are recovering in so many areas if we can get back from it.”

The upper chamber passed a legislative template that is known as Joel Archer substance drug abuse intervention law. The law was named after a teenage man who died from an overdose of drugs and enables the involuntary treatment of a person suffering from a disorder of substance utilize.

“This is a hope. This can be a small bill, but it is so big for the people of West Virginia,” said Republican Senator Mike Stuart from Kanawha County. “There will be people who relax because we have given them another chance. Every parent only wants a shot to make a difference for their children.”

The law unanimously passed, as did another legislative template to create the troops to the teacher program. The legislation aims to make it easier for someone to teach the classroom after leaving the military.

“There is enormous talent capacity among this experienced population in West Virginia,” said Republican Senator Tom Willis from Berkeley County. “This talent opens this law to fulfill the lack of qualified teachers in our public schools with the type of person who has demonstrated the character and skills that we want to stand in front of our children.”

All except for a senator voted for a law that hopes to improve the kilometers of West Virginia from Short Line Railroad.

Republican Senator (*21*) Morris said that this would have a positive effect on mining and production.

“We have tourist tracks that offer our economy a great advantage,” said Morris, who represents Randolph County. “This would also apply to these tourist tracks. This is a great legislative proposal for economic development. I ask for the passage.”

Saturday marks exactly two weeks in the legislative period. The session ends at midnight on April 12th.
