This “joy” that Democrats are touting about the Kamala Harris campaign is manifesting itself in dollars — lots of money. While party supporters largely seemed downbeat about their prospects as long as President Joe Biden remained at the top of the ballot, the sheer relief they felt at his removal appears to have motivated Democrats and boosted their fundraising.

According to a Exclusive report According to Reuters, Harris has earned nearly $500 million since being named the Democratic nominee.

CHICAGO, Aug 20 (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has raised about $500 million since she was named the Democratic presidential nominee, sources told Reuters, an unprecedented sum that reflects the enthusiasm of donors ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

Four sources familiar with the fundraising campaign told Reuters that the amount had been saved for Harris in the four weeks since Harris entered the race on July 21.

Harris entered the fray after President Joe Biden stepped down from the top of the Democratic ticket, unleashing a flood of funding that had dried up in the weeks following Biden’s disastrous debate against Republican Donald Trump.

Harris raised $200 million in its first week her campaign, while quickly securing the support that made her the party’s candidate.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump, who raised more money than Biden in the second quarter, reportedly raised $138.7 million in July to supplement his $327 million cash balance. That’s nothing to sneeze at either.

Still, nearly half a billion in one month is quite a lot. And given that Harris’ Approval rating was below 40 percent — and even now is just above that — much of that haul must be attributed to enthusiasm for the removal of the current president. When money talks, Democrats shout, “Thanks, Joe — now get out!”
