Denver (AP) –
The US education department gave on Thursday that public schools in Denver had violated the protection IX against the title IX against gender-based discrimination in education by creating all gender baths and enabling the students to apply bathrooms that correspond to their gender identity.
The finding was followed by an unprecedented examination of the East High School in Denver, which made a robust departure from the department of the department under the former democratic president Joe Biden. It is part of a move of President Donald Trump’s republican administration against local and state politics that allows transgender students.
The investigation in Denvber began after the school district had transformed the toilet of a girl into an all-family toilet, while in January he left another bathroom on the same floor for boys. The school district has announced that this was carried out due to a student conducted by students, and the bathroom had 12 feet (3.6 meters) high partitions for privacy and security.
The school district later added a second all-sex toilet on the same floor, which, according to his view, should arise regarding injustice. At that time it was said that the students would continue to have access to gender-specific toilets and individual bathrooms with all-sex.
The educational department gave the school district the opportunity to voluntarily make changes, including the conversion of multi -stands, overall the bathing rooms, which were shown within 10 days of gender or risk that were not specified.
It also wants the district to apply biological definitions for the words “male” and “female” in all guidelines and practices in connection with titles IX and that all guidelines or instructions can be canceled that enable students to apply bathrooms based on their gender identity and not on their biological sex.
“Denver is free to support a self -destructive gender -specific ideology, but it is not free to accept the federal government and to damage their students in violation of title IX,” said Craig Trainor, deputy secretary of the departmental office for civil rights, in a press release.
Officials from public schools in Denver said they had received the results of the investigation and “defined our next steps”.
The Trump administration has initiated about two dozen examinations of transgender guidelines in schools, including access to sports, changing rooms and bathing rooms, such as the Hechinger report, a non -profit news organization. About half of the investigations at least concentrate on who can apply in some K-12 school districts in Virginia, Kansas, Washington State and Colorado bathroom.
In February, Trump signed an executive order to prevent trans girls from participating in sports teams that match their gender identity. Followers said the step restored fairness in sporting competitions, but the opponents called him an attack on transgender youth.
In June, Federal Officials found that the Ministry of Education of the California Ministry of Education had violated civil rights law by allowed transgender girls to take part in girls sports teams. Officials under Trump also sued Maine because of the participation of transgender athletes in Girl’s sports and introduced an investigation by the Oregon Ministry of Education last month after a conservative group was described in girls sports teams.
