The US house unanimously adopted a resolution on Wednesday, in which the attacks on the former spokesman for the House house in Minnesota, Melissa Hortman, and her husband, who were killed by a shooter, and Senator John Hoffman and his wife, who were wounded, were killed.
The resolution sponsored by Rep. Kelly Morrison, which represents the suburban Minneapolis District, in which the Hortmans lived, also condemned political violence. Each of the seven other members of the non -partisan delegation in Minnesota have suspended legislation and spoke this week to support the House Floor.
No house member spoke on Tuesday during the miniature debate about the ground against the resolution. It passed 424-0 Wednesday, with eight members who are wrong.
Morrison, a democrat, asked her colleagues to see the attacks as a “wake -up call” in order to weaken violent political rhetoric.
“The escalation and normalization of violent rhetoric and political violence have gone far too far, and we as the elected representative have to take the lead and the first speak a better way to speak and start modeling a better way forward,” said Morrison. “Let us do this at the moment when we clearly judge and commit to end violent rhetoric to end full stop. We have to do this terrible act of targeted political violence for our country.”

“Don’t make a mistake: this was not just an attack on the Hortman families, Hoffman families,” said Stauber on Tuesday. “This was an attack on the state of Minnesota and our common ideals as Americans. Political violence like this threatens the structure of our constitutional republic and can never be ignored or without conviction.”
June 14th shootings
Melissa and Mark Hortman were killed In the early morning of June 14th by a man who spoke out as a police officer.
The alleged murderer, the 57-year-old Vance Boelter, arrived at the house in Hortman after shot John and Yvette Hoffman in their house and, according to the police, visited the houses of two other democratic legislators who also found a list of other elected officers in Boert’s car.

“As someone who has experienced political violence first -hand, this brings a lot of emotions back,” said Scalisue. “The man who shot me on the Ballfield that day also had a list of legislators.
